Stopped at Sky Sports being in Tier 1.

Read it again, it says Keith Downie and Adam Leventhall are tier 1, they just happen to work for Sky Sports - not all their journos are hacks, the majority of them are though.

Given we’re now or should I say really trying to be a global brand Levy needs to focus on what he’s good at, the business side and leave footballing matters to a DoF and the manager.
Certainly I would be concerned about him trying to cover too many bases. The way that the club is set up now with the stadium and growing global brand, one would hope that a sporting director is an inevitability. It's not like DL doesn't like that structure.

For me, live observation is fundamental," he explained in a 2017 interview with Duncan Castles for Yahoo. "For example, a small detail such as observing how a player warms up before a game or coming on as a substitute reveals much of his character. And character is an essential marker in detecting a top talent."

This is from Campos, I like the cut of his jib and will hopefully stop us from spending millions on players like aurier or ndombele*

*May still work out

** If, of course we do in fact get Campos

*** And actually let him sign footballers

Ndombele was 60m and can't play 45 minutes, he might be Pele reincarnated but his 'character' seems to be flawed.

Which is why I would prefer 60m is used on players who actually give a shit.

Seems the Campos links were all journo guesswork then. Nothing has materialised.

Yes, when we were first linked with Campos, immediately after Jose came in, it sounded like a really exciting link but I just wonder about how much the footballing landscape may have changed since the end of last year which may (or may not) make a DoF's job harder. That one's open to debate.

Of course, as we know now, there are major complications surrounding him coming to us. Firstly, he still has 3 years left to run on his current contract with Lille. Second, and if you can believe the reports, NO contact has been made between the two clubs over his leaving them and joining us. I guess if and when we can persuade him to come to us, it's going to cost us a load of money to persuade his club to release him early, but if he's good enough, we'll wait and we'll pay whatever's necessary, I'm sure of that.

For my part, a DoF's job can only be done to the best of his ability if he is directly responsible to the Head Coach, and not vice versa, and the Head Coach is of course directly responsible to the Chairman.

We'll see how this all pans out all in good time, but overall, I think yes, a DoF is a good idea as long as he's the right man who knows exactly what he's doing and has an excellent 'Little Black Book' full of contacts.

We are now a global brand football club so I think we need to move with the times but only for the very best around.

Seems like Rangnick is going to AC Milan to be their new manager. After his success at Leipzig it’s a shame we haven’t looked at him to overhaul things here.

Seen that our old friend Paul Mitchell is also leaving RB Leipzig to be Sporting Director at Monaco. We never quite found out what happened with him here as he still seems to be highly regarded but i never really knew whether he was any good or not.
