I don't blame him for going there. Mexico would be an incredibly place to live if you had lots of money. Great weather, incredible food, haha obviously the women, and all the extra curricular substances you could want.

Except those extra curricular substances can really backfire. Especially in Mexico

When you've got as much money as Janssen would have, I'm sure he'd be fine on both the quality front and paying the authorities to look the other way front.

Linked to Dybala and the Janssen thread is still at the top of the Transfer Rumors. Never change, SC.

I just spent 10 minutes researching the altitude of Monterrey and at what point it can really impact the human body. I'm genuinely concerned for Vinny; Monterrey varies from 1700-2000' above sea level. It's no Denver, Colorado, but it could really make things even more difficult for the fella. Prayers up.

One could argue that it will help him upon his return to Europe though!

what you said is it should have been obvious he wouldnt succeed based on his record before coming to Spurs. At least I think thats what you said.

I've explained a few times now that it wasn't. Did you scout him, as you're taking the whole thing incredibly personality

Who's gonna take his squad number? Kinda strange not having someone wear number 9, but at the same time we don't really have anyone who fits the 9 other than Kane but he won't drop 10.
Dybala :playful:

Outside of performing mental gymnastics to make an issue of his use of "be appreciated" there really isn't a story here.

The actual quotes:

It was not the period I was hoping for at Tottenham. As a 22-year-old boy from AZ this was a great step, but I didn’t get the minutes there that I expected.

"Also, I did not reach my [best] level there. Ultimately you want to play again, be a footballer and be appreciated.”

Janssen added on his first nine months with Monterrey: “I’m having a good time in Mexico. I have had many wonderful experiences recently. Last December we became champions of Mexico.

"It was my first championship, and to become that in Mexico after five months was something special."

you feel he was under appreciated?
He admitted that he didn't reach his level at Spurs. Then said as player you want to play and be appreciated.

You can twist the last line into him complaining if you want but the rest of the quote didn't sound like he was complaining.

Every player benefits from consistent starts and minutes on the pitch with his team-mates. Janssen didn't get that, understandably when we have Kane, and IMO Poch did give up on him too quickly.

Ultimately though with Kane in the team you're just never going to get up to your true form and it's going to mean a lack of confidence and consistent niggling injuries - both of which are just dead-ends for a striker. You'll never get going in that situation.

Look at Llorente's struggles until Kane got injured - and he is twice the player Janssen will ever be (no disrespect to Janssen) - a Spanish international with massive experience, proven at every level and it wasn't until he got consistent games that he could show his ability.

I pity any back-up striker at Spurs. While Kane is here you just won't ever be a real success. And that's fair because Kane will always be better than anyone else we can get.
