I have always said West Ham's biggest problem is thinking they are a big club before they are. If you don't know your position then you can't improve your circumstance.

According to the last financial reports they have the 8th highest turnover in the league and 11th highest wage bill. So in that manner they are OK.

However, like you say they spend a lot on transfers and appear to recoup very little. Buying Payet should have been the type of signing they
love. Bought for £10m, get a great season out of him then triple your money to reinvest. But because they think they are a big club the fans hated it. They have since bought experienced players, largely with injury problems. Basically they have become us in the 90s.

They are now looking at a relegation battle. If they go down they are in trouble.

Instead of targeting Carroll, Wilshere etc they should be buying younger, talented players with a good salary that doesn't cripple them and the option for first team football that better teams can't guarantee. But as they want to act like a big club they don't do that enough.
Really excellent analysis!

Like us in the 90’s they always seem to be attracting what I call the gentlemen players. Absolutely quality when they can be arsed to turn up, but that isn’t too often. I suspect that is why they always seem to do well in their cup finals against us.

:ROFLMAO:

He has a point though. With West Ham not playing and Karren Brady having made her comments yesterday, there's absolutely no way they can embarrass themselves today. All they need to do is stick a sign outside the café to tell people it's closed and then they're done. And surely not even West Ham could fuck that up.

?‍♂️

Oh well, there's always tommorrow...

As long as it's not too much of an inconvience

West Ham face the prospect of having to pay millions of pounds to ground share at the London Stadium if the Premier League season is not completed by the end of May, writes my colleague Matt Slater.

If that lot avoid relegation because of the fucking coronavirus I am going to be severely pissed off.
Even if they do you just know that the entertainment will be extended when they have another run at it next season. That club is a clusterfuck run by idiots and it's fun to watch.

Their sleeve sponsors have gone tits up

West Ham's "Official Investment Partner" Basset & Gold, whose lion logo emblazons the Hammers shirt sleeves as a sponsor, has gone bust.

The investment firm went into administration on Wednesday amid the Covid-19 pandemic which has seen many businesses across the country across all sectors hit hard as the UK enters the second half of a three-week lockdown period.
