There's no quick fix to this mess, 1 or 2 signings won't be enough, it could take 7-9 player overhaul of squad because this current group have no motivation & look shot

We need 2 Goalkeepers, 2 Right Backs, 1 Left Back, 2 Centre Backs, 2 Midfielders, 1 Centre Forward.

That's 10 new players and we need to sell at least that many.

Over to you baldy!!!

Always been pro Levy as we have really elevated ourselves under him as chairman.

However with hindsight now looking back we had a real opportunity. 18/19 with no signings was a disaster, not at the time as we continued to get CL, but it is playing out now. If we had invested then we wouldn't be in this shit state requiring a huge overhaul to fix it.

Think I'm now agnostic to Levy. No investment in summer i'll be in the fuck off camp.

Were you in hibernation in the 90's

haha - absolutely this! The last time I remember our defenders being this calamitous was when Kevin Scott & Stuart Nethercott contrived to either give away a pen or score an own goal in about 6 consecutive games.

you just can’t legislate for the pathetic howlers we’re making at the moment.

That is true. I tend to be on here in fits and starts, I can’t commit to full time unfortunately. To mu enteral shame I do pop onto Twitter though and can direct you to the things I posted upon the appointment which are very much in line with my current stance
I'll take your word for it.

I wonder why folk always point me toward twitter, haha.

I'm off for that cup of cocoa.

Have accepted this season is a write off, but I really couldn’t deal with another season like this. Football is supposed to be enjoyable and I can’t bear watching us at the moment.

Indeed. We used to get smashed by 5, 6, 7 away to Newcastle, Bolton, Sheff Utd. Remember a record number of 0-0’s at home etc.

The problem is back then were just used to being shit with the odd cup run. Now we’ve fallen from a much higher perch ( although in typical Spurs style still not actually winning anything). So it feels a hell of a lot worse, which is causing people to rewrite history.

Not made any easier by the huge ticket prices, but I suspect that won’t impact attendances yet. It will do though in a few years if we continue going backwards or just stay an upper mid table team.

Would love to finish this post with a note of optimism for next season and beyond, but I’m afraid I don’t have any really.

At the end of the day, It's hugely disappointing, but I find I can't be angry with any of the players. We fought really hard on the night and gave everything we had, but we just had too many of our best players missing to cause them too many problems, and they were far too good for us, but I'll tell you what, I know in my heart of hearts, if we'd been able to field a full strength side in both legs, we would have gotten through that tie. Oh well, we'll just have to suck it up and concentrate on our league position. We've got to put tonight behind us. We've got another big game Sunday.

I think if we keep losing games Regularly between now and the end of the season then the atmosphere will turn so toxic that Mourinho won’t be able to stay in position.
True, but Mourinho isn't the problem even if some fans think he is. Changing managers will just lead to the same problems down the line.

I'm fuming even though thought we would lose it was pure embarrassment tonight, no fight, no guts, no passion, no guile, no clue and no hope! To me we are rapidly returning to the old Tottenham sides in the mid-90s where we scrapped mid-table then flirted with relegation where you had to look at matches ahead where we could scramble a win to survive makes your blood boil!

So many factors have gone into this mess but to have a brand spanking new stadium with no European football next year is pathetic which top player wants to stick around tell you no one! ENIC/Levy surely would have the nous to see this you would have thought but no they are too busy lining their pockets also what happened to sponsoring our stadium!?! Be bloody Poundland if can even attract them!

I think appointing Mourinho at the time gave us a temporary boost but he is getting more and more exposed that without spending millions he looks distinctly average. Into the pot the more he criticises players, the more they come back to haunt him now you have Martial and Fred lining up next to twist the knife. Fortunately Rashford not around as he has even said he uses Mourinho as motivation to fire him up after his criticism so Sunday and the rest of the season looks very bleak with a horrible stench of deja-vu.

Well I thought the players worked v hard, so well done for effort don't understand this 'they didn't even try' bollox on here . No Mourinho defensive display either as he tried to turn the tie round .

I keep saying this and I'll say it again . Poch's great system was built around effort , not by buying expensive technical players ,that was his revolution . Yes ,he lost the players strength/motivation after a few years and had to go after a year of this loss .

So now we're left with the players who made this system..and they aint the most technical . If we are going to have success with Jose we must provide him with the very finest players . V expensive and not going to happen under Levy . Slightly bleak outlook atm.

Poch called the painful rebuild didn’t he!
He wasn’t wrong.

He called it but the pricks in charge of our club couldn’t be bothered to do anything when needed. Spending over £100m this season doesn’t mean anything as it’s too late; players like Toby, Jan, Dier, Rose needed to be replaced 18 months ago but nothing happened and Poch couldn’t spend if there was no money coming in from sales. I only watched 15 minutes of the game tonight but Toby and Dier looked like they were running through treacle.

I don’t blame Poch for becoming moody and distant, or wanting out (with a deserved payout). Why the fuck would he stay in a job where he’s worked extremely hard for several years and taken the club forward to a position that no one expected when he’s continuously hampered by an arsehole with a napoleon complex.

Mourinho needs £150m to spend a season and he wouldn’t get that over 5 seasons at Spurs, so he should just down tools and fuck off with his severance pay too.

When you cast a cold eye over all that's happened this season, and even leading up to it at the back end of last season, you cant do anything other than blame Levy and the board for this absolute shambles.

The underinvestement in the squad during those 2 transfer windows when we bought no one, the contradiction of pretending we're a 'big' club because we have a shiny new stadium, or a 'big' name manager, and fluked our way to a champions league final, and yet acting like a lower mid table club in the transfer market, the breathtaking arrogance to not heed your own manager's words of warning about overhauling the squad, and then sack him when he had the temerity to be upset because he wasnt fully backed precisely when he needed to be.

When Levy eventually leaves this club, his legacy will be that he built the best stadium in the world and filled it with a group of players that are bang average at best.

He wont change, hes shown no sign of changing, so nothing will change. He'll hire, fire, spend a bit here, not spend a bit there when it's really needed, and ultimately make us known for being the football club that should have acheived so much, yet fulfilled so little.
Great post.
