Yesterday you were keen to impress that your view was balanced and not based on bias for Ndombele, so at this point you should probably mention that we also had ITK (lol) that Mourinho did rate Lo Celso?

yeh we did, we also had a public statement from Mourinho on what i'm talking about to add to the ITk we had in my favour so yeh...

Havent we got one from when Mourinho first joined saying that Lo Celso was a good signing? We can keep going if you’re going down this route again.

Btw - what is it with us and record signings? Rebrov, Bent, Bentley, Soldado....and remember how bad Sissoko was until Sanchez took the title off of him.

mate im talking about when Mourinho first arrived and lo celso wasn't playing and a reporter asked him why to which he replied with what I already said above...

lo celso eventually got game time when we had to rotate and then Mourinho started praising him

Here’s what he first said:

Alasdair Gold: I also asked about Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele. Mourinho says they were both 'very good buys by the club' and it's not that they have to earn his trust, he was well aware of them. It's just they are continuing to adapt to English football and will play for him.

Can’t believe he hung him out to dry like that by saying he was a good signing when he first arrived. What a toxic **** of a man.

So basically, neither of them had to earn his trust, which is fair. Now one of them gets praised because he goes that extra mile for the team and the other one doesn’t because he’s a fat shit.

Mourinho has managed at the top level for a long time, particularly in this country - he should know how our media works. If he's given quotes like this, it means one of two things. Either:

a) He is deliberately trying to use the media to turn up the heat on Ndombele, either to put the pressure on him to start performing or to put the pressure on Levy to get a replacement.

b) He has just demonstrated extreme naivety in his media handling ability, something that used to be one of his strongest skills that has seemingly deteriorated rapidly since his final season in Madrid.

It's clear that Ndombele is extremely talented but has massively failed to deliver thus far. Whether this kind of response is the best way to get the best out of him remains to be seen, but let's make one thing clear, shots have now been fired, whether deliberate or not.

We dont know, which is mostly my point. But, perhaps point a in your post is what he is doing as he has tried everything else and failed to.see the required improvement. Ala global training programme etc. Who knows, let's hope it works.

He did it with Shaw at utd. And I think Shaw is now a better player because he did. It’s his way of getting the player to realise he is not putting in a shift. We have no idea how hard Jose and his have tried to motivate him behind the scenes. It obviously has not worked and Jose is reverting to what he hopes will work. Let’s hope it works. If it doesn’t shift Nd out pronto.

I think Jose did motivate some of our players behind door. It definitely works for Dier and to a lesser extent Dele.

As I said. It’s a narrative perpetuated but the fans on the forum that is now seen as truth.

Nonsense. Throughout his time in France, Ndombele’s attitude and commitment have been questioned. We should not be surprised with what we are seeing on the pitch... and neither should those who sanctioned such an expensive purchase. Moneyball doesn’t always pay off.

There's no doubting that what Mourinho said is spot on. We all see the same thing.

The question therefore is whether it was the right thing to do, to mention it publicly.

I don't think Jose is a fool. He lives and breathes Ndombele every day in training. He will have had many conversations with him behind closed doors. He will have explained he's not doing enough.

8 months after signing him he's completely unfit or just completely disinterested. Either way, it shows a severe lack of professionalism.

So Jose will have thought I'm not getting a reaction from him via private conversations, perhaps he's seen this as a last resort. He'll either respond to the public criticism and finally pull a finger out or he'll carry on as he has done, which means he can't play for us.

So there's no player to "lose" at this stage in that respect. We don't have Ndombele to lose him. Yes we can all see how good he can be, and that's why we're so angry that he's not becoming that. It's not only a question of adapting to the PL, he's unable and/or unwilling to put the effort in!

In conclusion, whilst I don't like public criticism of teams or individuals, it's not a knee jerk reaction from Jose. He will have concluded that it was an all or nothing, last roll of the dice in attempting to get Ndombele to start trying.

In a prime Poch team of 2+ years ago when we were pressing and winning the ball high up he would've been perfect for those games where we couldn't score against the bus parkers.

In a team where no one can run above a jog and the press is just something they dread doing after a match, he's a luxury.

I can’t stand his geriatric shuffle. He’s like an old bloke trying to cross the road.

But then maybe i’m being a **** and he’s perma-crocked already.

Here he is backing a player, still toxic on this basis?

Hes not toxic because he is never positive about players. He is toxic because he creates enemies wherever he goes.

This isn’t an inevitable byproduct of success. Klopp, Guardiola and Zidane have all achieved significant success more recently than Mourinho without creating discord and upset. Maybe I’m sensitive to his recent words but his last three clubs all show a clear pattern ...
