Modric, Bale, Ndombele. All three struggled with the physical nature of life in the PL. The problem is that nobody ever doubted Modric’s or Bale’s commitment to the cause. Ndombele arrived with a history of showing a poor attitude and a lack of professionalism in terms of diet and training. He was supposed to be the man we built our midfield around. Maybe he will come good, but players that lack personal drive and motivation rarely do. Bloody good job we’ve got Lo Celso as he already looks twice the player.

Not me mate. That might be Hoddle & Waddle.

I was excited by his appointment and voted yay baby, trophies are coming. I still do, judging him with this season and crop of players is crazy.
Ah my apologies, it’s hard to keep up with who is saying what on the whirlwind of bile that has become SC lately.

And sssh, you’re negating my point

Too many people seem to read a headline and not what was actually said, judging by many responses over the years. Evaluate what the manager or player actually said, not what the paper has you believe was said in a sensationalist headline.

It’s sad really because what Mourinho has done, has given the fans almost a licence to boo NDombele which many will do when he plays.

this was after he ousted him when he first arrived and realised how good he actually was when he was forced to play him
Ousted him when he first arrived? Thats a sun headline right there.

That's a really negative way of viewing it. Perhaps Locelso was made to prove himself to JM? Perhaps he wasnt quite there yet? Maybe he has a personal issue to deal with? So much assumption on fans part because we aremt privy to the managers thought processes or reasons. Jumping to conclusions.

Personally I have no issues with what Jose said yesterday. Ndombele has undoubted ability when on the ball but he doesn't show enough urgency or authority to get on the ball. Formations aside, he was the player who should have been dropping back to demand the football from our central defenders & show leadership & drive. He's a 65mill pound player!!
Lo Celso immediately looked to get on the ball, he drove the team forward from the moment he came on. He made mistakes but showed leadership & bravery on the ball. Jose is a winner who knows he needs to turn things around quickly. If Ndombele isn't capable or unwilling to change then I think Jose wants to know quickly.
Depending on his response I wouldn't be shocked to see him leave this summer, Jose won't have unlimited funds to spend & will want a tight-knit group he can depend on next season. This is make or break for Ndombele.
Seem to remember Poch trying the same approach with Sissoko early in his Spurs career, think after Bournemouth he said a 30mill player had to perform & something like Sissoko wasn't what he expected...not sure how many people called Poch a toxic c**t back then?

he was literally saying how Lo Celso will be used only because we needed squad rotation and that he should make an impression then... we also had a lot of chatter from ITK that he didn't rate Lo celso and that he had doubts of making his loan permanent.

People let the british media warp their view. Like this stuff about JM only playing defensive boring football. It's all media driven bilge.

It is not what Mourinho has done, it is what Ndombele has (or more to the point hasn't) highlighted by that viral video. Ndombele needs to show some character or pack his bags.

Exactly, make an impression when he has the chance to prove himself. None of us know why he held that view. I wont reply to the latter part as I'd risk a ban.

Yesterday you were keen to impress that your view was balanced and not based on bias for Ndombele, so at this point you should probably mention that we also had ITK (lol) that Mourinho did rate Lo Celso?

No manager can win with anything he says. If JM said 'N'dombele is ready, he is fit and showing his ability' and went onto gushing praise etc, there would be 'fans' calling him out for talking bollocks. So he is reasonable in his view and gets lambasted for.that too.

JM hasn't said anything, in my view, that isn't accurate about the club or this player in particular.

He wasnt even that critical. The way the press work in this country is by playing on the British negative mindset. An example.would be the headline from the fairly moderate bbc, "JM slates Tottenham's record signing".

What he actually said was:
"But a player with his potential has to give us more than he is giving us, especially when you see how Lucas, Lo Celso and those players are playing. I was expecting more in the first half from him."

It is hardly 'slating' him. Its a constructive view and his way if telling the fans, Tanguy has loads potential but isnt realising it, at the moment, but probably should be.

Who disagrees with JM? Honestly? Having seen TN play live I can say he is so naturally talented it's scary. Must do better though and JM is spot on.

Mourinho has managed at the top level for a long time, particularly in this country - he should know how our media works. If he's given quotes like this, it means one of two things. Either:

a) He is deliberately trying to use the media to turn up the heat on Ndombele, either to put the pressure on him to start performing or to put the pressure on Levy to get a replacement.

b) He has just demonstrated extreme naivety in his media handling ability, something that used to be one of his strongest skills that has seemingly deteriorated rapidly since his final season in Madrid.

It's clear that Ndombele is extremely talented but has massively failed to deliver thus far. Whether this kind of response is the best way to get the best out of him remains to be seen, but let's make one thing clear, shots have now been fired, whether deliberate or not.

he wasn't playing LoCelso at the time.

must suck for a player with his quality which Mourinho was not giving him a chance who had just lost the manager that signed him and you have some new guy calling for you to prove that he is worth signing.

could go either way but you don't go out in public and say that. Mourinho is very lucky that Lo celso came in and saved his ass in a lot of games.
