Mourinho admits changes have to be made to his squad in the summer after a spate of injuries derailed the club's season.

Apart from Lo Celso the midfield is weak and he hasn't found the right balance for the defence yet IMO

Ironically Dier is a better defender then midfielder and his new exercise regime could be a winner in the squad getting their fitness back

I agree we are flooded with quantity but not quality in midfield but I do like the winks glc pairing.

I agree with that actually. I think we have a assumed best match day squad with players with various talents and strengths, and that's all good. But not all of those talents and strengths form a good unit in the Mourinho system. 2015-2018 our best footie was due to the unit, and that sense of an indestructible unit isn't there anymore, even if do have a few quite acceptable players.

Absolutely - tbf whether people want Mourinho or not, it's pointless having given him the job if he isn't allowed to build a team to suit the way that he wants to play.

Yeah, and bringing in new people into the club with new ideas about how to handle the transfer market, I think that will be a very thing. I don't think we've over performed in the transfer market for a very long time, so maybe some fresh ideas could really be a positive drive.

Lo Celso definitely is
Bergwijn probably will be
Fernandes easily could be
Ndombele hopefully will be
Sessengnon almost certainly will be
Clarke might be

Not bad for recent signings

No shit.

If only someone had suggested that we continue to sign players while the iron was hot.
The irony is that it will cost Levy far, far more to rebuild half the squad than it would have been to regularly add one or two while we were flying. We might have won something, too.

I think we have a very good workable squad with a few key additions.

RB - Starter
LB - Starter
DM - Starter
ST - Cover

If we can get decent full backs in then Dier, Tanganga, Toby and Davinson are easily good enough as 4 CB's for now. If Mourinho doesn't think Foyth is up to it then we should sell. Jan is gone. Aurier may end up staying as cover but either he or KWP are gone. I think Ben Davies will stay.

DM is a must. Take the pressure of Ndombele and let him do his thing. We have plenty good enough forwards as long as we can get decent cover for Harry Kane. Son/Bergwijn are your wide starters, Moura is fine as back up along with Sessegnon. Lamela can go and raise some much needed funds as we need backup who is fit enough to be able to be called upon.

The weaknesses are obvious I just pray the club is decisive in addressing this.

The signings of Lo Celso and Ndombele are crying out for a peak first season Wanyama.

A couple more signings, a decent preseason and who knows, we might all be smiling again.

You posted on the wrong forum didn’t you ?

There are some that didn’t like Jose from his first stint in the PL and still carry that today. So it really doesn’t matter that Levy (IMO) has dropped the ball on so many occasions but gets away with it. We we on the cusp of something so great and all we had to do to keep momentum was to sign some good players but we didn’t. Some were boasting that we finished in the top four without making any signings, where are you now? Do you still want to boast?
We had clear ITK and I think even Levy said it himself, the stadium build would not affect transfer funds. Well that didn’t seem the case

Agreed - I meant that Mourinho should be given the backing to make the changes.

Well, during the January transfer window, when he was fully in charge, he brought in 2 midfield players in Jedson and Bergwin, but no striker, no fullbacks, the positions we were so obvious in need of. So did he have absolutely no say? Was the transfers all the work of Levy, who is not a football man? Or were both culpable?

Honestly absolutely no idea. Maybe the players we got in were the only ones that Mourinho fancied. January is a shit window with few options. Again though, I would hope that the club is trying to do business now as we don't have to wait for the summer to do the deals. With Wanyama gone, I guess it shows that the club are thinking ahead.

My brutally honest opinon

Sell
Vorm
Toby
Jan
Davies
KWP
Carter-Vickers.
Lamela. ( just not fit enough unfortunately )

Buy.
Right back unless Foyth could be the answer
Left back
Defensive Midfield
Left footed wing forward
Left footed Centre Back
Striker

I will probably change my mind in 5 minutes
