Well that was a predictable bag of shite. Almost identical to the Leipzig performance, and the 1-0 and 2-1 scorelines flattered us if we're being objective and honest.

Quite frankly, with the set up in both games that was only way we going to score a goal.

I hate admitting it but if I'm being realistic if we come up with similar performances in the next 5 games we will be scoring no more than 2-3 goals, and we all know what that means, if we're lucky we might scrape a couple of draws against Burnley and Norwich but that will be about it. As for the other three we will lose by 2 or 3 goal margins.

At the moment don't have the defensive capabilities to soak up pressure for 70-75 mins by keeping clean sheets and then nick winners. Too much of our defending seems last ditch, and every time a team get a corner against us it seems like whoever the opposition are they nearly always get their head first to the ball and if we don't concede it ends up like desperate pin ball with us just about scraping it clear or the opposition miss glorious chances presented to them.

So either the players left available buck their ideas up and stop crying over something we can do nothing about, getting Kane and Sonny back or we're heading for an abrupt end to our season by the time we play West Ham and 7th or 8th spot.

The worrying trend apart from inability to defend is the lack of intensity when we start games and how out pressed we get.

Been the same for the last year mate, nothings changed in that aspect of our game. Players have as much to answer for as anyone else.

Levy wanted Jose from way back when. I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt even though I would have preferred a younger more dynamic manager.

My concern is we are playing the same brand of football that got him sacked at Man Utd. There was a lot of talk that he had taken a break and was bringing a new approach and style of management but to me it looks the same old Jose tactics of absorb pressure and nick a goal or two. I don’t see a radically new approach in any shape or form.

Perhaps this will change once the season is over but when introducing your style of football to a new club you start with it from the beginning and grow. So I am reticent to believe Jose will somehow radically change his approach next season . I pray I am wrong as what we are seeing right now is classic old school Mourinho in his final season with other clubs.
The problem is even if Levy backs him in the transfer window in the summer he will be looking for players that fit into his style of play. Which is just a tighter version of what we have now, no flowing creative play and no goals.

He turns defence in to attack, direct, power, pace and the ability to pick passes, that's how he has always worked. This is a horrid take.

The majority of Poch's players look so off the pace, like their legs have gone completely - maybe his intense training methods that gave us the type of fast high pressing games that we had a few seasons ago, have taken their toll and burnt out the players prematurely.

Makes sad but truthful reading. It becomes clear where the bulk of the blame lies; and it isn’t with Poch or JM. Chronic neglect of the 1st team squad. They are completely spent.

We can slate JM like some on here did with Poch but the constraints within which both talented very different coaches have to work with is clear. JM is making the same comments as Poch over a year and half ago. Don’t see much changing which is the most depressing thing.
JM must have known what he was coming into with Levy so he can't complain if he isn't backed in the market.

You mean the team he got fired from. Are you actually watching our football and the team he sets up each week
He won two pots while playing this shite football he hasn't played in 6-7 years (even though he wasn't)

Yeah, I watched us beat a team we were going to get pasted by, lose 1-0 to a team that was going to paste us and grind out results funnily enough since the last Chelsea result ...

One of us is watching the games, both past and present.

We have. Six of them! How many do you want in a single season? Because I'd wager that much more than that is a bad idea and indeed we've struggled to integrate all of those we have bought at the same time. We couldn't spend while the stadium was ongoing and uncertain, and now it's going to take more than two windows to fix all of our issues. Personally I think one more summer could make a big difference - a ST, a DM and two FBs would be on my list.
An experienced old fashioned stop them at any cost CB is needed to play alongside Sanchez. Look at Leicester: two no nonsense CBs and they have the best defense in the league. Maybe someone like Tarkowski at Burnley? Screw getting some young prospect like Godfrey at Norwich we need an experienced hand.

I am just very concerned of moving on some of the squad, and older, players like Sissoko, Dier, Verts, Wanyama, Foyth etc...

Moving on players is not necessarily that difficult if done with a big club mentality ie cut your losses and accept you will not make top dollar on these outgoings and may even have to give the player(s) a sweetener to move on.

Unfortunately this is not how Levy works so we end up being lumbered with past it players which in turn limits our ability to bring in the quality we need and contributes to squad stagnation.

Football is about timing and momentum. We were building a head of steam under Poch but didn't strike when the iron was hot. Poch was calling for a new cycle for 2 years and after a fortunate run to the CL final last season, the chickens have finally come home to roost.

Exactly this. We(Levy) refuse to go for older experienced players which is very shortsighted as their experience helps the younger players and the team overall. In the past I was disappointed we never went for Barry and Milner when they left City. Both good experienced pros with great work ethic who have played at the highest level and who would have added more experience and depth to the team

Twice now we've made a very ordinary Chelsea side look real class. If the football we are dishing up at the moment makes you happy then you carry on.
