Jose leads by confrontation, he always has done. Dropping Ndombele is either because of Ndombele's fitness or because Jose is trying to provoke a reaction, but given the quotes he gave a month or so ago about wishing he could build the team around Ndombele I think it's safe to say he rates the player's ability if not his application at the moment. He did the same thing with Lo Celso and got the reaction he was looking for.

Surely Jose trying to send a message to him now?

I honestly think it’s 50 50 whether he’s with us next season and I’m leaning slightly towards him being sold. Especially if we need to raise funds for other positions, because let’s be truthful, his first season has been a bit of a disaster.

I think there's very little chance we sell him unless people within the club are convinced that he's incapable of reaching the level of fitness needed to play in England. He's got the potential to be world class so I'd be shocked if the club didn't exercise patience and persist with him unless Mourinho or other high-ranking figures thought his fitness situation was hopeless, otherwise it'd be a massive overreaction to a player taking a season to adjust to the intensity of the world's most demanding league.

where did Jose say he wanted to build the team around him?

I agree that there is both. The individual creativity spark and the team creativity but often when defences clamour up it takes a vision to see the space and hit it. Often that space is there for a second. You have to see it.
Many players can pass but only a few have the vision of a creator. It's not a learned thing, its something those players are born with. They are in the premium.
Recycling is when you dont see better spaces. So you try and work it. But most if the times recycling gets the defences tighter until there is no space.
Eriksen would work the recycling and then hit that great ball. Ndombele discountscthe recycling and hits it quickly.
For me it's a brilliant thing to watch.
I find it really interesting how different people view different players. Take Modric for example, he could be described a a ‘recycler’ as he is more than happy to retain the ball, play the simple pass, keep things ticking over. However, I think what separates the good players and the great players like Modric etc, is that they are doing things for a reason, luring opponents in, setting traps to then be able to play that killer pass. Not all players can do this.

I doubt we'll recoup the fee so I can't see him leaving

I didn't expect him to start today but I thought he would have got 20-25 minutes, particularly with the game level.

You'd think/hope he'd be looking at Gedson (three years younger, only been here a few weeks) coming on with ten minutes left as an almighty kick up the arse from Mourinho.

See what happens with him Wednesday/Saturday, I suppose.

End to end game today and Leipzig on Wed.

Can see why Jose opted for Lo Celso/Fernandes instead of Tanguy just for today. If he's not involved again on Wednesday then yeah there's something going on behind the scenes/
Agreed

I'd be quite surprised if he doesn't start midweek, Leipzig are well known for their pressing and Ndombele is an anti-press machine, along with Lo Celso we might actually keep the ball and open them up.

Even if he plays a bit part role until the end of the season we won’t know for sure about Jose’s thoughts on him until the start of next season when he’s had a pre season with hopefully a better diet and attitude towards his fitness. If he doesn’t start at that point then that will be the sign that something is wrong.

have you seen him play for us? can't even track back. the fact he can move forward with the ball and is relatively good in terms of retention doesn't help when the other team are in the possession and he's walking back.

How much are going to get for him if he's being sold for a lack of fitness and application? Cant see anyone giving us anywhere near our money back.

Sounds like what people were saying about Lo Celso around the turn of the year.
