Yeah.
Plenty thinging they will ruin UEFA when they go to court.
Some saying they never cared about the CL anyway,
And the rest confused that the rule was brought in to stop another Leeds, and shouldn't stop them spending money..
It's horrifying how quickly the sense of entitlement ballooned within their fanbase. I mean we're far from the most humble of fanbases, but they take obnoxiousness to a new level!

Let's hope the sense of irony doesn't come full circle with an outcome that sees them throwing more cash at this to get their way out of trouble and hiring the best lawyers that money can buy to get it overturned, because that would make a complete mockery of FFP and the regulations that have seen this long overdue punishment being imposed.

Similar punishment should deservedly follow for PSG.

Unfortunately, old chap, that's probably precisely what's going to happen.

They wont get a 2 year suspension. It'll get knocked down to just a season at worse, I reckon. The appeal will probably take forever as well.

I'm guessing this wont help mend City fans feelings towards UEFA tho. The CL anthem at the Etihad ain't gonna go down any better.

I see a lot posts stating that "they are guilty".

As I understand it, it isn't a question of "did they do it or not?" The facts do not appear to be in dispute.

It's a question of "is what they did a violation of the rules or not?" Specifically, should the sponsorship from Etihad be considered separately from the ownership of the Mansours, or does the undisputed fact that the Mansours own Etihad mean that they are evading the regulations?

As many have already observed, the appeal will not be decided on that question. Either it will be decided on fine points of procedural failure by UEFA, without bearing directly on the merits of the original finding, it will be decided by the Mansours bribing or extorting the fuck out of the main characters at UEFA.

What is highly unlikely is that the initial judgment will be upheld on its merits. Too many expensive lawyers for that.

Justice for football, cheating fucking bastards have got what's coming to them.

Now media, pundits can get the tongues out of city's arses...

They deserve absolutely no credit for anything they've won

The Premier League haven't got the bottle to do anything about Man City, just look at the punishment for West Ham over Tevez and Mascherano .

They wouldn't have done anything if this was just a domestic issue but they might feel like they have to now that UEFA have acted.

Appeal due, if I'm right, the punishment is suspended until the appeal is heard? So the appeal will be mostly opinion (as DM says above, it's going to come down to definitions to decide if they have broken rules) so will almost certainly drag on for months, if not years, but it is refreshing to at least see this token gesture from UEFA to impose a punishment that could genuinely be dangerous for most clubs remaining top flight in this day and age, where the CL is the money tree.

Unfortunate that they picked one of maybe three or four clubs that are funded by bottomless pits of money and who could soak up pretty much any punishment - if it's even upheld for one year, you can guarantee some mystery tournament will spring up in Saudi Arabia that will provide enough prize money and press coverage to keep them vaguely relevant in the meantime.

Hilarious extract from the bbc article:

La Liga President Javier Tebas praised Uefa for "finally taking decisive action".
"Enforcing the rules of financial fair play and punishing financial doping is essential for the future of football," he said.
"For years we have been calling for severe action against Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, we finally have a good example of action and hope to see more."

So do we Javier, starting with one of your clubs that has been bankrolled by the Spanish government for years, way before Citeh were relevant to anything...

The Court of Arbitration of Sport is basically going to be double-checking UEFA rules and the City interpretation of those rules, I would be very surprised if the lawyers of City haven't seen a loophole that they believe allowed them to bend/break the rules.

I'm not going to start cheering yet and I'd still prefer it if we finished above Chelsea
