Ziyech is a good player but he’s not what you would call a stand out player whom strikes fear into the opposition. Chelsea used to sign the likes of Makelele, Robben, Costa, Hazard, Drogba... these were all superstars and put the fear of God into the opposition. These days Chelsea are similar to Man U in that they’ve signed a lot of overpriced, hit and miss players. Ziyech is a talent but he’s not young and he’s not of the ilk of the aforementioned players. Would I start him ahead of Son, Bergwijn or Alli? nope. I was more gutted about Man U getting James than of Chelsea getting Ziyech.

Absolute bargain for them and we should have been all over it. Amazing how clubs get deals done months before the window opens and in June while we usually wait until late August because “difficult when international duty is going on”, “difficult after”,“clubs want too much until the last week”, etc. I guess thats the difference between ambitious clubs and those that pretend to be but are actually content staying still.

By all accounts they failed to sign him in january when they needed him the most.

"Ambitious" for sure. How is 40m quid for a 27 yr old from a weak league they can't use until next season, a bargain?
That same "Ambitious" club were desperate for signings after a transfer ban and got zero players in. Zero.

I'm a big fan of Ziyech but your post is ridiculously OTT.

Bar Makelele, the others where all about Ziyech level when they joined. Looked good in a weaker league but could they cut it in the prem, and Makelele never struck the fear of God in anyone. Even Drogba took time to start rolling.

Ziyech was the best player when Ajax played us, and i heard the same when Ajax played Juventus and Madrid (never saw the games), to compare him to James, who seems to have no special attributes bar pace is doing him a disservice imo.

Would he get into our team over those you mentioned? Doesn't really matter, but he would of been a bloody good rotation option.

He's not God but I think your downplaying his ability with your post. He's a very good player, with hardly any weaknesses, who will definately improve Chelsea, and probably any team in the league.
He's got that Mahrez swagger about him.

I've seen posts before about how we should buy him and how good he is and how he shone when Ajax played us but I have to be honest I was never sure about him. He seemed to me a bit of an entertainer by which I mean he would do something flash and you'd want to run it back to see it again but he is just as liable to try one and it not come off at the wrong time and place in a match. I believe Chelsea are paying £35 million or so which is probably about right for him, he's not worth more and that, as much as anything, tells us all we need to know about where Chelsea are nowadays.

It's yankspurs, they could have signed Darren Bent and he'd find a way to pitch a fit about how terrible a football club we are.

He’s right in his prime for another 2 years. And £40m is the new £20m in football. Just because we’ve hardly caught up in our bargain shopping doesnt make that less true.

Lets put things into pespective, he is a good player, he will strengthen Cheatskies squad and he was realistically priced, so now lets forget him and focus on what we need. To challenge for siverware - a goalkeeper, 2 fullbacks, a cb, a defensive mf and a goalscorer, thats all! . All have got to be proven ability that will make an immediate impact of class and quality. Sorry but I cannot seed this happening in total, we will strengthen in dribs and drabs with potential players, whilst those around us spend on quality and get stronger, making us appear also rans. I like Coadey the wolves cb but where the rest might come from is anybodys' guess.

That's if he hits the ground running straight away.

You realize that we signed a highly rated player that's a lot younger, at around Ziyechs ability already with a higher potential ceiling, in the winter window when they were unable to bring someone in at all despite big holes in their squad, right?

If anything we were the ones who showed ambition.

So with him coming to CFC, what will happen to Pulisic? Obviously that he didn’t pan out right for them. Hudson-Odoi back in the game after the injury. Slim choices

more likely they will move on Pedro and William

Ziyech is a class above Bergwijn, and I really rate Bergwijn.

That's not to say he cannot reach the level Ziyech is at now, but he is nowhere near that yet.

I'm excited by Bergwijn but I don't see how he has proven he's around Ziyechs ability especially considering the games that Ziyech has shown his ability in. In any event I don't even see why we need to even in the conversation about this signing, all I know is Chelsea have got themselves a fantastic player for next season and he will be a threat. I'd love to have him in our squad, I think he'd improve us but we have players in those roles that we're happy with.

Both are fantastic players and the point of my post was to disprove the notion that Chelsea has shown ambition while we supposedly haven't.

Yeah that's what I mean we don't even need to be in the conversation, it'd be awesome if we could get some deals done early before next summer but that's the extent of it.

We'd all love that but that is not how Levy operates

Bergwijn is still at a early stage in his career. Ziyech is pushing 28. Hopefully there’s more to come of Bergwijn

I know I'm being really really thick here, but how the fuck can Chelsea be signing players two weeks after the window has shut? Is he out of contract or something? I'm not really sure if it's possible to hate Chelsea any more than I already do, but they make it very easy to help me.
I think people just look at the way we do business! You can sign players anytime. Just cannot transfer registrations until a window. Whereas we just start scouting and “considering” players when the window opens.

I've got to admit that if Ziyech had signed for us I thought he could become as important for us as Son or Lo Celso. As he's going to Chelsea I'm now convinced that he's the new Marko Marin.

Thanks, but I find it hard to accept that Tottenham, one of the biggest clubs on earth, allows other clubs (and it's main and closest rivals) to work on scouting and researching new players for 10 months every year whilst it does nothing of the kind for itself. I would genuinely ask you, if you have any proof of what you've posted to please share it with us.

As with all Chelsea players and staff and fans, I hereby place a thousand poxes on the lot of them. Like West Ham and Arsenal, they are all the work of Be-Elzebub.
