The stats are evidence that Hugo Llloris is both an elite shot stopper, which is undoubtedly the most important aspect of goal keeping, and an elite sweeper. Sure, he may fall a bit short in other areas of the game, but it's baffling that any fans would suggest getting rid of a player who's at the top of the league in such key areas just because he sometimes makes mistakes.

Elite sweeper? How many games you saw the last two years? No one says get rid. I said he needs to prove that he can still can do it. Ffs

I must have watched over 98% of our matches these past two seasons. And according to that article, the stats show he's an elite sweeper. Even that time when he crashed against Tanganga wasn't a bad idea, it's just that Tanganga pulled off an amazing play and Hugo wasn't anticipating that (which was a reasonable assumption).

And a lot of people in this thread have been showing an explicit desire to get rid of him. Maybe you haven't, but the fact that you think he still needs to prove himself, as if he hasn't been doing that all over his career, tells me that you wouldn't be against the idea of getting rid of him. According to the article, the stats show enough evidence that he's still an elite shot stopper, so I don't know how much more proofs do you want?

Verts had shown his whole career he is quality too but is declining now.
I hope Hugo does not do that anytime soon but there are signs of it.
I wish though you are right and he saves us lots of points more...

Okay, that's fair enough. Let's hope you're wrong about those signs though.

Fans really are stupid. Elite goalkeeper according to the stats (in the article). In 3 pages time someone who doesn’t have a clue what they’re talking about will be all emotional and says he’s past it. Or that Gazzaniga should start (remember that?).

lmao

It's no surprise that Jose threw him straight back in as soon as he was available. Gazza did ok while he filled in but hes no number 1.

Yeah Gazzaniga did a decent enough job for us when Lloris got injured, but I don’t think he’ll ever be good enough to become number 1 long term.

He started off well but there were some dodgy games and goals let in. I am grateful for him stepping up when we were really screwed, but at the same time I am delighted to see Hugo back.

Noticeable how much calmer our defence looks since his return.
Not surprising really, like when we swapped Gomes for Friedel. Defenders just need to know what the goal keeper will do, whether that is come out to sweep or stay on their line, it doesn’t matter. They just have to be consistent. Gazzinga isn’t, Lloris is

He's not dominating the 6 yrd box at all at the moment. Toby's own goal was from 4 yrds and Hugo watched it all unfold from a few feet away. Danny Ings hit the bar from 5 yrds out for Southampton the time before. He needs to sort it out before everyone we play starts hurling any old ball into the box expecting a freebie.

Agreed. He's usually a very dominating keeper in those situations but these past couple of games he has been demonstrating quite the opposite. Hope he sorts it out soon enough or we will be in big troubles.
