When Tottenham Hotspur completed their long-awaited move to a new £1billion home last season, they became the envy of every sports fan in the world.

Make no bones about it, White Hart Lane was good... but the new-look Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is on another level entirely.

I think the article has been drafted by Spurs' PR department. It's free advertising, what they call an advertorial.

This is the difference between spending and investment. 18 months ago, the story was all about "cost overruns". Now it's all about having a long-term iconic stadium that will promote the name "Tottenham Hotspur" every time there's a boxing match or a rock concert or an NFL game.

If you build it, they will come.

Well all I can say is that I think that we are doing very well indeed as a club. Some very good leadership in my view based on the following:

1) One of the best stadiums and training grounds in the world,
2) One of the best managers in footballing history (and the Jose of old - passionate, eloquent and charming; not the bitter Jose of Chelsea II and United - though even I would be if I had to deal with Pogba on a daily basis),
3) A clear footballing strategy of buying relatively young players with tremendous ability to grow within the team.

We should be very grateful indeed considering how other clubs are - on and off the pitch. I would not want to be a Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal fan right now; and indeed for the next few years. Man City also have issues (but a blank cheque book to sort things out). Liverpool are looking good for a few years. But I do see us giving them a run for the title in a couple of years.

As long as they invest the extra revenue in bettering the squad rather than paying off the debt I see this as a win-win.

As a 64yr old, you (and I) have living memory of a trophy haul that most on here can only dream of.

As another 64 yr old, I too share those memories and hope that Jose can get us another trophy or two in the not too distant future.

You youngsters, eh? I come from a line of long livers (as in life, not organs) but the sands of time are shifting faster as I'll be 81 at the end of this month. Hurry up, Jose!
