In the end, I don’t think Dele is a hate-filled racist, even though the video was racist itself. What worries more is that he continues to show his immaturity with stuff like this. It also shows on the pitch where he still plays like a teenager, on the edges of games where he’s not scoring and assisting.

It’s time for him to grow up as a person and footballer. Hopefully the fallout from this knocks some sense into him.

Was the guy he was filming 100% Chinese? Or just “looked” Chinese? It reminds me when all Africans were stigmatised with having AIDS (it was said that AIDS came from Africa) in the eighties. I don’t see how people are blind to the casual racism going on.
I was in a relationship with a Chinese girl for a couple of years.

We were on holiday in Florence this one time, standing at that viewpoint at the piazza de michelangelo, and there was a group of asian girls near us. You could see that a couple of them were glancing over to my girlfriend, and her back. Eventually one came over and asked "are you Chinese?", to which my girlfriend replied "Yes!" They were wanting to have a photo taken of them all.

Afterwards, she explained that even people from that region can't tell if someone is Chinese, Korean or even Japanese sometimes, because... and I quote her... "they all look a bit the same."

I would have got in trouble once.

But then I would have had the intelligence to learn from that and avoid it in the future.

He's made that vid and sent it viral. How's he not thought actually....
he didnt send it viral - he sent to a mate
Either the mate stitched him up or hes been hacked

I may have missed it, but what else has he done?

Shame, but what do we seriously expect from young footballers who have everything but appreciate nothing?

the Club will be furious, bit like the Goons were with Ozil but he was taking a stand whereas Dele was just acting the twat.

whether I spent six years in China or not, I’d say he needs to seriously take a step back and learn from this.

I live in New Malden. To the uninitiated, one of the largest Korean communities in the UK is based there.

On the packed train from there this morning, one of the locals coughs. Everyone in the carriage looked at him. Honestly... this is such bollocks. The big thing for Dele here is to be careful with his mates.

See, this is what annoys be a bit with all the "yeah but was the bloke even Chinese?" comments.
When people from Asia have difficulty differentiating between different countries, how is it actually racist when someone from the west does?
It's like being called racist because you can't tell the difference between folk from different African countries.
Obviously it's a very complicated subject, probably too much so for a debate on a football forum but I honestly think people are too quick to pull out the racist card.

It was an insensitive comment but not racist.

My daughter in law is Japanese. She is open about being unable to tell Japanese from Korean from Chinese at times. She said, and I quote "Well we all look the same".

She also can't tell an English person from a French person just by looking at them. Racist!

You can tell its a no game week when this is what's being discussed.

Could she not tell from the stripey jumper, beret and string of onions around his waist?
