but but but Daniel told us that the stadium build wouldn’t effect our transfer policy....

Since we've moved in we've signed a £30m Sessegnon, a £42m Lo Celso, a £52m, rising to £62m Ndombele, Bergwijn for £27m and have a £40m option in place for Gedson, not to mention the £10m spent on Clarke. Can anyone remember a 6-7 month spell where we actually committed to that much spending?

Before you mock the club you support please come with more than just a few cheap words that are completely untrue. Besides, any moron with half a brain will know that a £1.2bn stadium project isn't going to pay for itself so where exactly do you think that money will be coming from? A 25-30 year payback option of an outstanding £700m or so debt and how that is going to need paying off doesn't really need explaining does it? We will end up making more than we did at the old ground, even once we pay off the money needed per season to keep the banks happy so yes it won't be as damaging to us. Say we made £50m from the old WHL in matchday revenue and the new place makes £100m. Take the £25m off of that figure and surprise surprise we are still making £75m, a cool £25m more than we were 2-3 years ago, it ain't hard if you give it the time and attention of a lunch break to look into it.

The club have done more than any of us could have envisaged when it comes to spending over the last two windows. Give them a break and start to actually support the club instead of taking pathetic cheap shots at them

Seriously, what was he going to say?

If you look at the history since Levy took a controlling interest in ENIC, and ENIC in turn took a controlling interest in Spurs (circa 2003/4), We massively improved on the pitch. In the preceding 12 years we'd only finished top half three times out of twelve and that was 7th, 8th and 9th. Since then we've been a mainstay top 6 side, and a top 4 one for last 5 years or so. We, as a club, have spent an enormous amount of money on buying land and properties to facilitate the new stadium (~£400M). That was also a period when Chelsea and Man City were massively financially 'doped' by their owners guaranteeing on pitch success. We now have the best football stadium in the league, possibly the world, and also a stadium that is geared up to generate revenue better than any other. In the two transfer windows since the stadium opened we've spent ~£170M on new, quality, young players (Bergwijn, Ndomebele, Lo Celso, Gedson, Sessegnon, Clarke), with the Net spend at ~£115M. Hopefully investing £100M+ in the squad every calendar year will now be the norm, all made possible by the new stadium. Which took more than a decade to fund and build. Our squad, which had become stale is being refreshed, and this is shown by the age of the bulk of our squad:

Heung-min Son: 27
Lucas Moura: 27
Serge Aurier: 27
Harry Kane: 26
Ben Davies: 26
Tanguy Ndombele: 23
Giovani Lo Celso: 23
Dele Alli: 23
Harry Winks: 23
Davinson Sanchez: 23
Steven Bergwijn: 22
Juan Foyth: 22
Gedson Fernandes: 21
Japhet Tanganga: 20
Ryan Sessegnon: 19
Jack Clarke: 19
Troy Parrott: 18

I do not think we can judge Mourinho until he's had another transfer window and a full pre-season to make this his side. I think it is important to not judge Levy until the same point. After we've had a full season of increased revenue and a new manager to back. I expect Mourinho, to be able to challenge for the title next season, to want to sign a physical beast of a CF, a DCM and a commanding CB. And those players need to be ready made, ready to slot in and improve the first team. They will cost money. If Levy is serious about challenging for the title he needs to spend another £170M this summer.
Very true however I can't see 170m being spent in the summer unless we raise funds by selling 1/2 off to raise it.

It's so obvious - he tried to give his hair a trim himself and messed it up - had to shave it all off. I know, becuase I do this to myself regularly.

Anything ranging from £50-£100m each summer net spend is more than enough should we utilise our scouting department efficiently.

Leipzig, the team many favour over us in the Champions League this year and the team currently tussling it out for the Bundesliga title have just spent £18m on their 2nd most expensive signing of all time (Olmo). This is what Levy means when he says we need to get away from the idea that spending a lot of money is the way to finding solutions.

If Leipzig can build like that, so can we without going nuts with money spent.

I suppose it's all about getting the balance right occasionally you need 1/2 decent spends to get the really good players, and then supplement that with more conservative buys or academy products to ensure continuity.

Just think we need a far better scouting team to identify the good players with 5 star potential. Now we have a manager who can also identify these as well. I loved what Pochettino did for our club, he has helped improve our standing around the world. But he was seemingly very particular in the actual player he wanted. Which I can understand as we’ve not always spent wisely. While doing that he has run our players into the ground.

Really cannot see how we can improve the scouting system we have. It is up there among the best. We know who the scouts are, so check out their CV’s. We have an extensive list covering the globe.

You can scout all you want but with Chelsea and City prepared to pay the best young talent 10 to 20 thousand a week .
You are not going to attract the top talent as the uber rich clubs has first dabs .And with the influence of parents they are going where the money is .
Your only hope is tat your youth programme can produce as Ajax do .

Poch was a relative unknown in terms of tactics and plan before he came here, so there was little negativity or baggage. Mourinho is a different proposition and whilst there is much to be admired, there is on the other hand the whole Man Utd experience, which some may worry will be repeated here.

Pochettino was a bit of an unknown in terms of tactics and plan when he left here too unfortunately. Thankfully there was some good times in between!

It’s funny people definitely have the perception that Mourinho is older than 57. Maybe it’s because he’s achieved so much or that he probably does just look older. It’s interesting that from 57 Ferguson went on to win another 9 league titles before he retired.

I was always under the impression that our network was a lot smaller than clubs like Dortmund, Benfica, and others. It’s always been a bit of a bugbear of mine that Levy’s skimped on this side of it when it’s the most sensible way to to spend money to increase the value of your squad.

Not sure many clubs have developed a Kane AND a Bale over the last 10 years.

Then why bother scouting. Let's just round up the nearest kids and coach them awesome

Think that's a bit of a strawman, I'm just pointing out that developing a player is handled by a different part of the spurs staff than the scouting department. The original posters point is that the clubs he mentioned seemed to be able to find top talents for extremely low prices like clockwork. You naming two talents who took years to develop isn't nearly the same thing as the point he was making.
