I watched the game, he did one thing only in the game, and lost the ball a few times before he hit that one off free kick. He was as pants for them as he was for us this season, always passing safe and back he didnt do anything to influence the win, dont be fooled by that one of free kick, he wont last too much in a conte team if he continues to play like this. He is so soft and Conte will not put up with that and neither will the inter fans , he needs to change big time
We had his peak years. I don't see him reproducing that. His body is still super fit but the mind is gone.

He was only on for 20 mins or so and he actually did well. He showed good passing, busting a gut to get forward, he was wiped out following a very good run which cut open the AC defence, he made a solid tackle and hit the bar with a stunning free kick... shaped up to cross it and had a shot instead. He was shite for us for the last 18 months but he did very well in his cameo last night.

I agree, thought he moved the ball well even though there was understandably a part of him that wanted to keep it safe. Should have definitely had a goal from a good run forward and he was poorly not picked out for a tap in.

I think he’ll fit in well there to be honest, especially if he begins to get more confident and express himself a bit more.

Now he’s talking about the atmosphere in the Milan derby and saying you don’t get that in the premier league...

Lol.

Watched the Milan derby last night, the space players get is crazy compared to England. He'll obviously flourish with that.

Feels strange seeing him in a different kit. I know this is a bit old news now, but im not sure he really does have much more chance of winning trophies there than he does here. Sure, now I said that, they will probably win the league this year and he will win one within his first few months of being there .... typical. But still, we were challenging for the league a few years back, and we were just in the Champions League final less than a year ago, we also just appointed Mr Trophy to be our manager. They haven't won a domestic cup for a decade now almost. Granted, assuming they don't win the league this year they will still be more likely to win it next year than we will the prem, but in overall trophy-likelihood, unless they pull the league out the bag this year, i'd say there isn't that much in it to the point you'd look to move to them from us for that very reason. Just feels like something he's convinced himself to make him feel better a bit, due to ultimately not getting the dream move he really wanted.

Exactly my sentiments. I don't know if its made its way to the UK yet, but he has admitted to the danish press in the last couple of days, that his dream move was Real Madrid, but their interest never got to the stage were an actual offer was made. This BTW also ties in with what ITK said last summer, about Real stringing him along.

In the end the move to Inter feels like a move just for the sake of it, and in a sporting sense, it's probably a sideways step. I'm sure he'll be a success there though, he's obviously much better than anyone else they've got in his position.

Atmosphere's are different in each country.
England does have quieter periods, wheras Italy or Germany have a constant droning.

Obviously we would say the London Derby or the Manchester or Liverpool derbies have tons of atmosphere, but it isn't the same. Whether it's better or worse...?!

I think he has a better chance of winning something over there. Here we've got Liverpool & Manchester City who are both as good as Juventus so straight away winning the league is more difficult. Then in the cups we've also got Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Leicester, Wolves etc. There are some good teams in Serie A, but there are more of them over here. And when you're desperate to win something and you get told that the team needs a rebuild it must be very tempting to move somewhere else. I think that we all know that he wanted to go to Real, but that move didn't happen so he's settled on Inter. It's not a bad place to move to if you want to try a new experience.

To think that we overall have better football teams here in England than in Italy. 20 years ago that would have been an absurd statement.

We may have those guys in the cups, but as I said, they haven't won a cup in Italian for essentially a decade, so not exactly constant winners there. And they haven't won the league for a time either. Though I acknowledge they may well do this year, and if not, they do have a better chance than we do next year in the league. It's just they don't exactly scream trophies, and aren't the first team i'd have moved to if that was my main motive for leaving, which was the reason given in this instance. It just seems like a bit of an exaggeration on his part to back up his decision. But I do agree it's a good move for him and they are an attractive team for a number of reasons.

He didn't really have the option of joining one of the truly elite clubs so Inter is a decent choice from the teams in the next tier. As you've said they haven't won much recently, but they have brought in a manager that knows how to win that league and they're backing him in the transfer market.

A good chance for Inter in the next few seasons. Juve have an aging team and need to rebuild and it will be difficult for them to stay as dominant while doing so.

I never said he did have a choice, in fact, that was precisely my point. And in terms of the manager that sounds awfully similar to what we have just done. Yes, he wanted to go, and yes Inter are a good move given the circumstances and he may win something there. But the gulf between us isn't so great, and if anything we would be more appealing to many players. Not to him, of course. But Inter was simply the best he had on offer, and not the team he'd have originally wanted. Maybe if he knew that was the best he could do he might have not been as keen to leave from the beginning and have done things differently. We will never know for sure. But his comments, even if they carry some accuracy, seem a bit like he's reassuring himself. We will see over the next few years how accurate they turn out to be.
