Aurier can’t play. He needs a rest as he’s started most of the games since Mourinho has come in. He’s looked spent after 70 minutes of the last few games. Invert the fullbacks for this one and have sessegnon on up and down the left.

--------------- Lloris --------------------
Tanganga --- Toby - Vert --- Sessegnon
Gedson--- Ndombele -- GLC/Skipp
Lamela -------------------------------------------Lucas
Parrott

Jose mentioned in his post match that he might not have Dele for this game.I'm being very hopeful with the Parrott & Skipp selections.

Probably got a good bruise on his shin. Need to mend it before he's back in action. Luckily we got some days after Soton to rest.

Good pick btw ?

Here's my take
Lloris

Foyth Toby Jan Sess

Gedson Dier Ndombele

Lamela Parrott Lucas

Lo Celso looked like he might have a groin issue during the last 5 minutes or so yesterday. Wouldn’t surprise me if he sits this one out.

Some need to be given a good rest with a short break coming up, I’d go:

Lloris - Tanganga, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Sessegnon - Skipp, Ndombele - Gedson, Lamela, Lucas - Son.

Gazzaniga, Foyth, Dier, Aurier, Winks, Lo Celso, Parrott.

I understand that Skipp will not start, but resting five players who played yesterday and give them 10 days off before CL starts again will do us a world of good in the long run.

Southampton is really good right now though, so we can not underestimate them.

If we can rest Alli, Toby, Son, Moura, Winks, and Aurier that would be ideal. Getting them a full winter break ahead of the final run in would be great.

Lloris
Foyth Sanchez Vertonghen Tanganga
Gedson Ndombele
Lamela Lo Celso Sessegnon
Parrott

Would love to see Parrott get a start, but I can’t see it. He didn’t even start against Boro, and Southampton aren’t a bad side, especially away.

Toby, Aurier and Moura will need a rest though.

Again (before some smart ass is going to tell me that this is not who Mourinho will pick), this is the team that I would like to see.

Lloris

Aurier ___ Sanchez ___ Toby ___ Tanganga

Lo Celso _ _ Winks ___ Ndombele

Moura ___ Lamela __ _ Son
Yes, that's what I'd hope for. The ideal scenario would be if we get a few goals in the first hour and Skipp, Sess, and Parrot get some decent minutes.

Mourinho wins trophies because he plays his strongest team in cup games. He will play what he thinks is his best team, especially as we have an 11 day break after this game. Dele may be injured, and I’d expect Ndombele or Gedson to come into the side if so.

Southampton are a really good pressing team, playing Dier in midfield would be suicide IMO. If he plays at all it's got to be as a CB.

Anyone who thinks this won't be the strongest available squad is a lunatic. Jose will be single minded about winning the FA Cup given his need to continue his rep as a manager who wins things.
