He's certainly saved us some money coming through the way he has. Mahrez was well and truly in his pocket for the majority of that game, only Walker bombed past him IIRC.

He’s so impressive it makes me wonder why it took so long for anyone to give him a proper chance.

Guaranteed starter now.

Makes you wonder what other youth prospects have been overlooked. I really think Skipp can be the next one to make the jump into the 1st team. Just needs that chance to show Jose that he can be that solid DM we so badly need.

Immense defending again. Nothing going forward but that's never been his remit anyway.
He was really decent going forward when he played at RB and given a licence to attack. Almost scored a cracker and could've easily got an assist or 2. Today he was clearly instructed to stay deep.

So impressed with him given LB is clearly not his position. For a 20year old with no top flight experience to come into a struggling team and play 3 positions in the back line in his first few starts and look as composed as he has is impressive.

They should let him go up for corners because he does attack the ball and he will cause a problem for defenders if the delivery is right.

He makes us so much better defensively. Strange it took so long for him to get a look in.

This is a question to our more frequent academy watchers here...I know Tanganga was one of our better defenders while in the youth ranks, but did anyone expect him to make this good a transition into the first team set up?

Don't understand how he seems to be do good yet many people never really spoke about him, quality player.
There was some talk of him looking promising in the U23s in the past. He looked good in pre-season, but his recent performances have been a big step up from that. So much for Mourinho not trusting young players!
I just hope he doesn't get overhyped, prematurely given England senior caps, then hammered by the media for not being as consistent as defenders with eight years more experience.

The longer he stayed playing u23 football there was a good chance it might not have happened for him at Spurs.

He was a star player for our u18s and he has always had the tools to do well strong, fast, good in the air and aggressive.

He was stuck in our u23s for far too long just like a lot of other players and if that continued he would not have made it with us and he would have faded out and we would have lost him.

Now that we are starting to loan players out again this will be massive for us going forward.

Mourinho’s system currently seems setup around 1 attacking FB and 1 narrow FB tucking in to almost create a back 3, I think Jose billed it as defend with a back 4, attack with a back 3. Think that suits Tanganga as LB, that’s how Davies played when Jose first arrived. Perhaps this plays to Tanganga’s style. He definitely hasn’t looked fazed at all, and it does make you think who else could step up in the same way.
One thing I’ve noticed today from reading the Spurs Youth thread, is the rumours a number of players are looking to leave after being frustrated with their development pathways. Maybe seeing Tanganga make the breakthrough, and now Jose looking to get more players out on loan for development, maybe that’ll placate some.

This is what Luis Binks should be thinking.

This lad is brilliant. Says everything you need to know about the lad that he keeps a defender of Jans experiance out of the side.

Beggars belief that he was right under Pochs nose and yet did’nt start a competitive match until Jose came in. Would’nt surprise me at all to see Tanganga in the England squad for the Euros.
