I'm sorry but there are obviously players out there who are available and who Mourinho does think are good enough. He thought Piatek was good enough, Giroud was good enough, that Jose chap was good enough and for all we know one or two others. All were deemed good enough, they must have been because according to the ITK we received, we were in negotiations with them, their clubs and their agents. So, good enough and available.

Its time people stopped making this shithouse excuse for Levy. When they are available he won't pony up so not only Is it 'difficult' to begin with, it's double difficult. That's not to say he should overpay left right and centre but you'd think now and again won't have us being careful what we wish for or doing a Leeds, we're not talking tens of millions here.

EDIT: But there's still a few hours to go so you never know

Rare enough to read you having a pop at the top man A&C. If you lads (who are privy to a good bit more info than most of us) are that frustrated then that says alot.

José was so vocal about his desire for a striker and clearly gave his consent to a number of options but by sounds of it yet again our manager hasn't gotten what he has asked for.

Thing is that José won't tow the party line for as long as others had so Levy better be ready for the fall out

SNIPPET TO THE TWO DEALS WE DONE

1. This remarkable GF 18 month deal, all down to JM and his relationship with Benfica. JM, and I agree believes he will be a massive success. He has known him since a kid. What age I don’t know
2. SB, was his contacts and agent’s homework. Given to DL to dot the ‘i’s’ and cross the ‘t’s’
3. WJ was his suggestion
Herc, I love your posts I really do, but every time you post an acronym we get a whole stream of posts asking who e.g. WJ or OG are and even more people answering.

Please, please, please just spell out the name.

I would rather no one then a benteke for example. Hopefully there is someone out there we are keeping tabs on for the summer

If Benteke was short term option, I'd much rather have him for half a season than no one.

Anyway yesterday dragon1 said we have 4 options now, giroud, balotelli , lloriente and one orther who looks united bound now. What is general word on these? Any rumours moving them elsewhere? If not, these might still be options?

We've brough in a few young players in the last 12 months, but when you remember that Dembele, Eriksen, Trippier, Llorente, Janssen, Rose (Maybe Wanyama) and GKN have all left in teh last 12 months......we really have no excuse but to PONY up....and with plenty of time to spare too.

4 options and not getting 1 by looks of it!

Completely disagree mate. There’s no point buying a striker that Mourinho is not fully sure on. Levy had to deal with getting rid of Janssen and Soldado for losses. He’s been bitten; we’re not very good at recruiting them.

Piatek went to Hertha. It’s hardly a competitor at our level (perceived or actual).

Tbh I’d rather Dele played there than any of the names suggested.

There just can't be any defence to not signing a striker with top 4, CL and fa cup to play. But apparently there are still people defending this shoot yourself in the foot mentality.

If Mourinho wasn't sure on a player why would we be trying to sign them. Are you suggesting that none of the suspects we were negotiating for were players Mourinho wasn't sure about? I find that difficult to believe.

agreed, but people seem to think its a good window!
Which genuinely good enough striker have you seen move clubs for a reasonable fee/ deal this window, a deal you’d be happy with at Spurs for a player who will only ever be second choice?

Name him ?

1. Llorente JM said no!
2. Benteke JM said no!
3. Can’t remember his name, but striker playing in Portugal-permit issues
4. Mario Balotelli JM was not against. But don’t trust dealing with Italian clubs after recent experiences. The offer was 6 month loan, covering his wages. If happy, talk in summer. His club started to play games, and we had not even engaged, so backed off
5. Willian Josè was offered as loan with option. Certainly NOT obligation! Hence us going cold
6. KP (Polish striker from Milan). Agreed ALL . Loan with OPTION. Changed last minute to wanting Foyth/Lamela in similar deal.

How on earth we are going to blame DL is beyond me!

No idea why that WJ wouldn’t work for us. Loan with option was supposed to be exactly what we were looking for.

But surely Jose could be sold on "Striker A" as a loan option but not long term purchase only for that player to be sold permanently to another team.

Surely it's not Levys fault what every player and club decide to do.
