Bruno and GLC are extremely similar players, our resources should be allocated elsewhere to avoid duplication. Plus GLC is 2 years younger.

Over priced! GLC better. Thank God he wasn’t playing for Sporting

Maybe, but my concern is what happens if/when GLC gets injured/suspended/hits a bad patch etc further down the line?

I’m hoping just because we’re priced out of Bruno it doesn’t mean we won’t be addressing the issue in the summer.

Sky Sports:

MORE FERNANDES INFO...
Manchester United appear to be edging closer to capturing their number one target of the January transfer window.
After weeks of negotiations, Ed Woodward has agreed a deal with Sporting’s director Hugo Viana, which could see United pay an initial fee of 55m euros plus add-ons. The add-ons could see the deal rise to an eye-watering 80m euros.
Tonight, Bruno Fernandes remains in Lisbon considering his next move - joining Barcelona, via Valencia in La Liga or a move to the Theatre of Dreams and Manchester United.

Sky Sports News has obtained details of the two add-on clauses which United have offered Sporting to help close the deal.
As well as the Euros 55m fee:
  • Sporting would receive a further Euros 10m from United if Fernandes achieves what are considered easily achievable targets.
  • Sporting would receive an additional Euros 15m from United if Fernandes achieves what are considered more difficult targets to achieve. It’s understood these clauses include Fernandes winning the Ballon d’Or.
With both United and Barca offering deals acceptable to Sporting, it looks likely that Sporting will now allow the player to decide his future. Clearly a decision is just hours away.
We understand Barca have offered a slightly bigger fee for Fernandes – however, a significant part of that figure would not be paid until the summer.

That’s a LOT of money for him.

Yes, a lot of money but i'm still disappointed that we miss out on him. I think he's going to be a star in the Premier League. I would have loved to have him in our team.
Of course, Gio is an amazing player but with Eriksen departing I think we need to sign one more creative midfielder who can play several positions in midfield.
Bergwijn looks creative and I think he will be great for us but I see him more in the front 3 rather than in the midfield 3.

I don’t.

Mind you, if I was right about players Kane would be playing for Dagenham right now!:joyful:

Let’s see.

Heaven forbid we should have any similar players in our squad to ensure injuries/suspensions/loss of form/ doesn’t affect us and healthy competition is maintained.

Do you think it is feasible or intelligent to pay ~120m in transfer fees in a six month period for two players that play pretty much the same position?

It'd be a massive misallocation of resources considering our needs elsewhere in the side. Even the petrol clubs can barely afford to do shit like that.

Yeah, I know what you’re saying, but the squad is in such need because we’ve neglected it for so long. That’s entirely our fault and we have to fix it and maybe up the resources allocated for investment in players for a change.

Also, our main playmaker creative player of the last 6 years has left, so we are now in exactly the same position we were in before where Eriksen was relied upon so heavily.

I’m not saying we definitely should have paid up for Bruno, but the rebuild is going to continue for several windows and at some point soon we will need another AM imo, as well as the other areas of the squad which you allude to.

Got to laugh really. Woodward plays the tough negotiator but the moment a viable rival pops up, he drops his keks and grabs his ankles for the full price he could have had Fernandes for weeks ago.

Aren't we quite confident on Eze in the summer?
