What would this lad cost if we wanted to buy him from some Championship club? Just shows how much value there can be right in front of our noses if we manage to bridge the gap between academy football and first team football better then we have in recent years.

The money we made from selling guys like Caulker, Townsend, Mason, Bentaleb and even Adam Smith have probably paid for the cost of having an academy many times over.

Tanganga can, as we have seen play leftside either as a LCB or LB. However, they are unlikely to be his favoured positions as he is a very effective right footer. At present we have a genuine problem around the club with whoever plays leftside defence, they are unlikely to get proper cover from the left midfielder. Both Son and Dele play leftish but neither relishes the role when it comes to its defensive duties. To me, one of the more obvious decisions to give the side balance, is to play Sess at LM or LWB, probably in front of Tanganga. He is much more suited to the job than the attack minded Son and Dele

This may sound ridiculous, but was talking to my tennis coach who used to be one of the coaches for the Spurs youth team (at football, not tennis) and coached Tanganga. Anyway, his opinion on Japhet was that he'd get found out eventually if he keeps playing on the left and is much better suited as a CB. Feels we will still need another LB is Rose is to be sold.

I’d really prefer to see him at centre back but needs must I guess.

Hopefully Davies will be back soon and we’ll sort out who is actually going to be our first choice left back in the summer (as doubt we’ll be sorting this January transfer window).

Of course he will as he isn't a LB. Jaden Brown is a better LB than him. He is just a CB doing a job there, and a lot of the time when players get an initially run of games they start of well just going off enthusiasm, being an unknown quantity and good will from the fans. That will gradually run out as he isn't good there, and I can't ever foresee him being 'good' there. At the moment he is getting a bye as an academy player filling a spot and having no real expectation on him. KWP, Cirkin and Brown would be better there.

While Tanganga is right footed, he has played at LCB quite a lot with Eyoma at RCB, even for England I think he played LCB. But he is very interchangeable. I would be content with him playing alongside Toby for example and think he'd do a really good job there.

Agree.

There's a world of difference to playing as the left sided CB, and playing in an actual LB role. Being predominantly right-footed is much more of a problem as a left fullback, than as a left sided central defender. Ledley played LCB back in the day for example, and Toby has done so as well when Jan has been injured or off form.

I like the look of Tanganga, but a LB he most certainly isn't.

I'd like to see him in a RCB role, whether in a 3-man defence with wingbacks, or a 4-man defense with classic fullbacks. Being fast and right-footed, he can do a job at RB like witnessed against Boro at home in the FA cup as well.

I reckon he could do a job at DM. He's athletic, very quick, incredibly strong and can carry the ball (from what we've seen anyway).

Would be interesting to see if he could adapt to it. Him, if effective in front of a back 2 of Toby and Sanchez would be pretty fucking robust.

English football fans need to get past the idea that a CB with good ball skills is interchangeable with a DM. It isn't.

Only 20 years old and is seriously impressing with each game. Wouldn't surprise me if we announced that he's signed an extension on his contract sometime next week.

I have a feeling he's gonna be in England's Euros squad if he keeps playing like this for us. Surely Danny's spot is up for grabs.

This guy is impressive. Really impressive. What is even more impressive is he hasn't looked out of place in either position

And he is one of our own
