He'd be competing with Firmino and Origi, not Salah and Mane. He played LW when he was younger but has shown to be far superior as a striker. Anyone buying him to play on the wings would be wasting their money.
And Firmino has been brilliant so that's not really an excuse is it. They don't need to replace Firmino whatsoever, and there's no guarantee he would, but guess what, they want to keep and add to a winning team..

Actual big clubs that win things tend to have more than one striker, and even then the fact he could play on the wing is an added bonus.

He still plays as a left winger quite often for Leipzig. In the last few matches Patrick Schick played as a number 9, Werner from the left, Sabitzer from the right and Nkunku behind Schick.

He does but Forsberg is usually the first pick on the left and Werner hasn't been as impressive from the left as he has up top. I haven't seen much of Nagelsmann's Leipzig though to be fair.

Indeed. I am a huge fan of Firmino and I think Pool would be daft to look at replacing him right now but the point was rather that Firmino isn't as undroppable for Pool as Kane is for us.

I wouldn't really want Werner either way. He's not a Mourinho-type striker and he'd be wasted on the left. There are players out there who're better fits for us.

Jovic or piatek would be better too.

This guy has 8 goals in 22 games and is 28.

I am so shocked that we are going for him.
That's actually a very decent return for a big hold up man. Or a reserve striker in general. For me everything about him fits the bill, but not for more than 30 mil. I'm sure we will move on if it's too high.

You can't win with spurs fans. Either the signing is not the level they want or they complain about a lack of signings.

Honestly Werner would never come. Not now, not in thd summer. He needs to feel that there is a way into the first team. Ultimately you either need functional players who know that they won't be more than an option, oldies who don't mind helping a big team out or young potential who don't mind biding their time.

He does seem a bit of a journeyman. People comparing him to Soldado. I think to be a striker in the Prem you need speed and strength or height and strength which Soldado had none. At least he’s big.

Werner wont leave in January. Leipzig are top of the Bundesliga and have no need for money. They wont sell their striker for 50m

Werner’s contract allows him to leave for a reduced amount each additional year. Leipzig have already said they’ll let him go.

Hot off the press (not neccesaarily hot news)

It does seem to add up that we are trying to limit how much we take on the books in January. Pure speculation but surely this is related to the potential legs into Spurs getting some cash injection or new money in the not too distant future.

Interesting that he was left out of the squad for last nights La Liga game, some reports are saying he will fly to London in the next few days for talks.
