I don't think he's a good LB, and I've never seen him play particularly well there. He may get better in the position over time, but he's gotta be further forward for me.

He's playing at lb out of need. Once Davies is back he'll be starting there.

Needs to be played further forward and let's not forget he's 19.

Poor performance tonight but up until tonight he's been very solid if unspectacular

This is what I thought when we bought him. Every time I saw him shine for Fulham it was in the oppositions final third.

There is clearly talent there, but to be honest he looks a bit out of his depth at the moment.

Don't think he'll ever be a decent full back. Going to be harsh here but it seems that he is afraid of contact.

Want to see him further up the pitch when Davies is back, running at defenders and taking some risks.

Reminds me of Bale when we could never win when he was in the team

Bale play as LB was just as bad . He was confused . Instinct was to attack but have to sit back and defend . Sess is facing the same thing now

Think we only see Sess reach his potential once we get a LB

Sess was put in to counter Aarons speed cause Japhet just could not handle the speedy winger in the Watford game

Tactically it was right but with Son in front of him he is never gonna get much help so not surprise to see him struggle

Think some people need reminding that Ryan is almost a full year younger than Tanganga. He’s got bags of talent for his age and he’s got plenty of time to reach his best, playing out of position in a disjointed team is never going to show his full potential.

Looked like he felt he doesn’t belong again, as soon as he received the ball he looks to offload it to the nearest player which is probably a sign of low confidence...Plenty of time for him to turn it around as he’s still a kid, just hope something/someone ignites the fire in his belly as there is a player in there.

Lad is clearly learning his game. His ability to finish is undoubted as is Darren Bent-like knack of being in the right place to get those opportunities.

However he knows we see him as a left back and he is clearly working hard on his defence and how to walk in that respect. As he integrates with his new team mates.

The rest of his game will come, we just need patience.

Agreed. No need to crucify a 19 year old for a simple mistake. Particularly when we were able to get the win either way.

Mistakes happen. The important thing is that Ryan learns from it.

How does he remind you of Bale!?- who scored three in his first four games or something. Bale may have had defensive faults but he was fast and dynamic. Sess is passive and showing no enterprise etc. Thought he would be much better. Hope he will get confident and transform himself into a player of use to the team.

Needs a bit of fire in his belly, to get on the ball and make something happen. Looks like a timid boy out there just going through the motions.

This is going to sound strange, but I think I agree with what Tony Gale said on commentary last night. Fuck me it must be the end of the world.

He basically said that he watched him closely from his days at Fulham and that he's a really nice lad, which is probably working against him at Spurs as he's playing within himself. He needs to believe in himself a bit more and take more risks. This is where Gale hit the nail on the head, by stating that Ryan looks "apologetic" in possession of the ball.

The above is so true IMO. And it's made even harder by the fact he's playing in a team full of players shot of confidence.

Whether or not he's a good enough LB is up for debate. Before seeing him there I wanted him there, as he may be a good LW, but my thought process was lets make him into one of the best left backs in the world, a la Marcelo during his prime.

The jury is out though. He looks rather timid in his tackling. Positionally he's a little bit all over the place, but that's to be expected given his inexperience both in that specific position and generally due to his age. I think he will flourish, I just hope he does so at left back as I truly believe that's where he can be world class with some good coaching.

Yeah the Bale comparison is tiresome, simply because he plays on the left hand side.

Anybody who saw him terrorise defenders at Old Trafford on his debut could have no doubts he was a special talent.

Kid is getting far too much stick, he’s clearly a good player just needs games and experience of making mistakes and time to bulk out a little bit.

he’s much more used to playing LW, to become a top class LB will take a bit of time, go easy on him.

Awful, no belief, just a waste of space. Worst signing since Bentley. He's had a full season in the championship amd prem And hes Playing like a 12 year old drafted up to the seniors. Will never make it here

Looked like he was absolutely shitting it last night.

He has all the raw tools to be a great player but just needs to build confidence and belief imo.
