I'd gladly take Piatek. We need a striker. If the only player we get in between now and deadline is him, i would be very okay with that.

Piatek seems the smarter move, and I'd argue more exciting than Willian Jose. However I quite liked the sound of the latter in his thread. Sounds like a solid but uninspiring option that could actually be just what we need. A bit like Giroud with France. I'd be happy with either.

Piatek is younger and arguably has a higher ceiling. Certainly more resale value. He sounds less steady but if we can get him to have a hot streak like he was on last season it could make a huge difference. He should have a lot of crosses to attack considering how Aurier is playing currently at least.

It's clear we can't function without a striker under Jose, so it's an essential position to be upgraded.

Piatek seems to be the one ITK are pointing towards, I actually feel it could be a decent signing, not the megastar everyone hoped but hes a proper no.9, holds the ball up, target man and is like a fox in the box as thats where mots his goals come from. His game is similar to Kane/Lewondowski, obviously not at that level yet not as prolific yet but still only 24, its not the worst signing at all and has future potential, im in.

Piatek scored 22 goals just last season in Serie A and he gets a good shot volume. I’d be quite happy if we got him, especially in January. I would not expect someone with that kind of potential to be available for a reasonable price right now. If we end up trading 4 months of Eriksen for Piatek, that is an outrageously good deal.

Piatek is a fox in the box kinda striker. We need someone who will just put the ball in the net when they're expected to do so. Kane is usually that man and whilst he offers a lot more than just goals, I'm sure we can find a way to play to Piatek's strengths.

It's also good that he differs from Kane because it allows for the option to play them together in future.

Willian Jose wouldn't be a bad option either but I wouldn't expect him to be as prolific as Piatek should be.

Piatek has struggled massively after his move to AC Milan and has 4 in 18 this season. He presses aggressively off the ball but offers very little else when he's not scoring.

I'd be very surprised if he suddenly turns into a different player with us.

not sure if this was posted
dragon1: there is truth in the sociedad striker but we arent the only ones in for him
One of the ITK's said we were focussing on Piatek with an offer out on another as back up. I'm guessing it's Piatek and then Jose as a back up.

That's not true.

After his initial move in January last year he was absolutely on fire. Twitter blew up after he scored a brace on his first start, I think it was, and he went on to score plenty more rest of season.

He's struggling this season because Milan are struggling and they're not playing to his strengths.

The one thing we can definitely deduce from this sudden flurry of ITK over the past two days is that things are definitely happening - which isn’t something I take for granted with this club any more

He was scoring for fun prior to AC Milan and had a good run at the start, yes but the goals quickly dried up.
He now has a total of 13 goals in 36 league games with 6 coming in his first 7 starts for them. Since then he's scored 7 in 29 and I'd frankly expect a lot better from a player who barely provides anything outside of scoring.
He's a Roberto Soldado, Inzaghi or Huntelaar with a way worse scoring record.

He's young and can definitely improve but in what way would our way of playing suit him better and where does the confidence that he'll flourish with us come from?

A goalscorer who presses aggressively off the ball sounds fantastic to me.

A goalscorer has to score to count as one, no? He's scored 7 in his last 29 league games for them.
I'm usually not a stats person but it's worrying to say the least.

Raul Jimenez scored 18 goals in 80 appearances for Benfica before joining Wolves . Vardy spent his whole career in the conference before joining Leicester. Firminio scored 38 in 140 for Hoffenheim before joining Liverpool.

We and other clubs have signed prolific strikers (Jannsen, Soldado, Rebrov, Shevchenko, amongst others) who failed to do it in the premier league.

Players adapt to different leagues differently. Its difficult to judge how a player will do. He may be a success or he may not. He may not score much but he could bring other players Son and Alli into the game who will.

The only question worth asking is whether Jose wants him and if he does, the rest is history really

I hope the Brazilian dude is just a backup loan in case the Piatek move fails. His YouTube showreel reminds me of Raziak’s :nailbiting:

I agree with the bolded bit.
Jimenez and Vardy have one or several special qualities however that sets them apart from other strikers. Both are pacy, the latter very much so and the former is very good at bringing others into play.

The ones you mentioned as prolific failures are meanwhile all somewhat in the Piatek mould. Great finishers but not offering much else and hence neither of them managed to succesfully make the step over to the prem.

Bale is rediculously complicated. Financials are crazy and all three parties want a completely different deal. He is open to leaving but this isn't going to get past the enquirey stage unless things change dramatically on at least 2 sides.

At least there has been communication this time.

Piatek is the primary push as things stand. Won't be anything else then unless someone leaves.

Inter looking at alternatives to Eriksen, although they are making sure we are aware of that.
