Time to sit back and watch the Levy lovers spin their webs
What, precisely, is there to spin, other than one piece of itk which we are meant to take with a pinch of salt, no? And why is it Levy lovers? Aren’t we all just Spurs lovers?

The divide on this forum is not between Levy lovers or haters, it’s between those who are willing to wait for something tangible before reacting, and those who aren’t. This sometimes reveals itself as anti Levy, sometimes anti whoever is the manager is, and sometimes anti whoever the specific player in question is, all depending on what agenda the intangibles available suit best.

My issue with all of this is that it’s anti something the club I love, based on the informed but fallible snippets we gratefully receive, which is not in the spirit of the salt based faith we are meant to subscribe to. When we go a window without a signing, or squad improvement, attack the chairman, great. When we consistently perform poorly or out of form players are persisted with, get on the back of the manager. When a player fails to put in the requisite effort or repeats mistakes, be pissed off. But all this waiting to hear something unsatisfying to give an excuse to attack someone at our club, it’s shitty support of the club.

My post was in no way directed at you, @Hercules. I was just thinking aloud with the info you have shared as to what possible strategy DL and the club have as if they fanny about as we slide back into upper mid table from a position it seems that they have been working towards for nearly 20 years, they won't be adding much value to their ROI from hereon.

The Campos news just adds to the perception that the way Levy works is baffling.
All the talk previous was that Levy wanted a DoF system, but Poch didn’t. Now we have one of the most successful managers of recent times, who wants that setup, and has a DoF in mind with a track record of success, and who you’d assume wants to come. Now we may be about to miss out, be that because Levy is too tight, or refuses to relinquish any control. If it’s the former, then it’s very short term thinking, because Campos can vastly improve our transfers, meaning less spent, and more recouped.

Haha, that is exactly how I see Levy working. It's been the same for years and NOTHING is changing while ENIC are still here. Levy is all about rolling the dice when it comes to transfers. If it comes off weighted towards his terms, great...if not, no big deal there's always a another, usually lesser, option out there.

Last summer he was under real pressure to deliver after 2 windows of doing and spending nothing so got 3 major moves done. Now he has done them and got them out the way, he'll probably be thinking we are alright for a while and there's no need to spend big for at least another year or two.

So let’s be completely honest here, in Poch & Jose, arguably two of the top 5/6 in managers in world football & we seem to be coming back to the same problem, both have & will continue to be let down by one common theme “Daniel Levy” the sooner he & Joe Lewis sell the club to someone who genuinely wants to challenge for top honours we are screwed !!!

Great example how DL operates. Say Messi was available on a free, and was 30 years old. Wanted wages of 350k as zero transfer fee. And of 100 image rights etc (can’t find another name as we don’t do image rights in UK). DL would try to negotiate 200k wages, and 150k plus earned by appearances, goals etc. Messi would want those things added on separate. Image rights; DL would want 50%, which is a piss-take. Messi’s advisors may say, we will give you 10%. DL would create another image rights proposal, to attach to LM’s own. Deal would be on brink of collapse, as his sponsors wouldn’t agree.

Say now he has sponsors from Ike. DL would want a say of LM’s existing cherry to do the deal. Leicester would come in, agree to LM’s terms etc. DL hears about it, backs down and agrees to original deal. Agents don’t take DL’s call, and middle man gets told LM thinking about it. He signs for Leicester. DL gets media driven drivel how it wasn’t his fault.

Hope very good insight to how and why we have missed out on many deals. Which makes ITK’s look stupid.

I think the infuriating part is my greed of enjoying our success while trying to accept the fact that DL treats us like Deloitte/PWC and every other old white man LLP, LLC, etc. This guy operates this like a middle tier accounting firm trying to use his new office and good annual bonuses (if the business does well) as an excuse to get talent and get players to come. When it comes time to hiring a managing partner who has a book of business and a known record of success but requires hiring a team valued at ‘x’ which can lead to a return of ‘5x’ but with a 2 year turn around, that ramp seems too ‘risky’ for the investment.

Yes, it’s sports, and yes it’s business, but rich people park their money here for fun and to stroke their ego and win. Not to treat this team like the Pittsburgh Pirates, nickel and dime every other deal for pure Profit. I’m sick of being a Knicks, Jets and Spurs fan to keep being dealt a turd that is advertised as otherwise.

Atleast we have eachother guys....

So if Jose was a JL choice but not DL would JL then not tell DL to back the manager and tow the line?
Just to add...I don’t believe Levy would lie to Jose knowing he is his boss’s man (JL) or that Jose would fall for false promises...really don’t get any of it!

I am really curious how will change his attitude when we do not make the top 4.

Cheer up! Still expect the very least one signing before window closes;)
Cheers for all the info Herc but this is so depressing. At the very least we need a Striker and DM in this window. I just don't understand how Jose isn't going to be backed over the next few windows. He would have signed with assurances and if they aren't met, he won't piss about and he will leave. Surely Levy can see that the squad needs an overhaul?!
