Einstein would described our situation perfectly 'Definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a diff result' ...

1. tactic and formation and team shape hasnt really worked from when JM started in those early games we were more clinical hence patched it up, atm were not clinical but still leaky at back

2. we continue to pass so slowly,

3. continue to slow the game, play with no tempo,

4 continue not to make movement off the ball and stand very static and close together, hampers the midfield from trying to pass forward alot of the time or through balls

5. one CB has to play two positions to keep covering Aurier (pulls us of out shape at back) leaves us short and over stretched or out of position,

6. No existent midfield we bypass our own midfield by long balls, the opposition know they can do the same (this is down to shape and formation / tactic Jm applies)

Most teams seem to out muscle us off the ball

We didnt have many things as a team as we havent for ages even under Poch

1. Desire
2. Passion
3. Fight
4. Care
5. Intensity

7.5 - Gazza and GLC
7 - Toby Verts
6.5 - Lamela (good game but messed up near the end but that was down to tiredness and lack of minutes), Tanganga (bit unlucky having to play out of position and against pacey sarr) , Gedson Looked useful for the cameo, Aurier (others have given higher but thats for the job he should be doing but never really does)
6 - Winks,
5- Son, Moura, Eriksen
4 - Dele

Sorry mate I don't usually comment on other posters ratings, everyone is entitled to their opinion.... But Dele 4??

Come on your joking me, he wasn’t bad at all and was harshly subbed imo

i thought he had a mixed game, some silly fouls and caught out of position, but got forward well at times and put a few good balls into the box

Exactly this, i think peoples expectations are so low for him, when he has an ok performance of sorts like today, doing the actual things a normal RB should and would do it makes him seem better when actually he did his job nothing extra.

He made one good run in the first half thats about it and one or two blocks during his whole game, he was slow, lethargic, first touch was appalling, slow passing, and slows the tempo always holding on and standing still with the ball when no need to. He lost the ball numerous times, dribbling out with the ball 5 miles in front of him most of the time and losing it, he was tired and lethagic as i said, he wasnt doing much much and this is a culmination of the few games too, I was maybe harsh on him becuase he is such a good player and is not showing even 50% of his talent and skill, wheres is strength/aggression/desire gone. He has been looking leggy and off the pace and his passing has been poor.

You describe very well what he has been for many games, today I saw it differently, I think he was decent without being great.

Thoughts: I don’t rate him, but I thought Aurier was pretty darn good today; GLC will be an excellent addition, he has the skill coupled with the tenacity and drive to be a success in this league; I liked the look of Gedson, brief as it was; I don’t know what our shape is, and I’m frustrated by our lack of organisation; we desperately need a striker, probably two; I’m fed-up with profit driven ownership - I do not believe that Enic want us to be anything other than a successful brand, and I therefore conclude that the hiring of Mourinho was brand protection, until such time as the next promising ‘yes man’ coach can be recruited and tasked with performing beyond our allowed means.

That was actually quite a brave selection today, and a very un-Mourinho like one. Away from home against a physical Watford side, that battered us into submission in this fixture last year, who have put together some wins and are full of confidence. Don't think many expected a side loaded with technical attack minded players with an adventurous look to it.

The problem is though that with that XI you need the game to be played under certain conditions for them to shine - control of the ball, control of the game, be able to push up the pitch and play in their half, and just football them to death. The first 10 minutes was a snapshot of how the game needed to be played from our perspective. Get the ball down, some nice interchanges in the final third, probe away for the opening.

But there are two teams involved, plus the natural flow of the game. Sometimes these conspire against your intentions. Watford after the initial opening spell were able to play direct, long ball and wide play, get up the pitch and make the game scrappy. People can say we didn't do anything or look threatening but the ball was often not under control, we were clearing our lines or just throwing a head/foot in and not able to get the ball down and build our way up the pitch and use any superior technical and footballing quality.

I thought as team we battled well though and weren't physically dominated and held our own, certainly competed far better than the loss last season for instance. We eked out a couple of chances from quick transitions, they had a spell where they had a couple of very good ones in return, and the missed penalty cancels out the goal line clearance millimetres from going in our favour. On the whole the draw was a very fair result.

Individually I thought most put in a good effort and did a shift at least, which hasn't been a given for so long now. Son probably the most disappointing in this aspect. With the ball there were moments I thought all our attackers could have been a bit sharper, but that's been true week in week out since time began. Win, lose, or draw.

Agree with all of this. Draw was certainly a fair result, the game was there for either team to win but the attacking quality wasn't there.

We matched them for effort and application today I felt (should be a given but it's been a while with us). That is where you hope the individual quality of our attackers can pay dividends but they all seem so short of confidence currently.

Hopefully that will improve in midweek. Felt like some foundations were laid today at least.

Pearson is a very good manager. I have always been impressed with his sides and if he hadn’t kamikazed his career, he would have had a shot at a bigger club and been quite successful.

So for us to go to an in form Watford and get a point was a good result. It was scrappy and hard fought with some awful referring and on another day we would have folded.

Positives for me was the fight shown by the lads and concentration. Nice cameos from Aurier, Winks and GLC. Jan and Toby reasonably solid at CB.

Lack of a target man showing up big time. The fact the club can’t find a replacement for Kane is pathetic and scandalous. JM doing well with two inside forwards but they are not a target man. I said some time ago we will struggle without Kane. I don’t have to be Nostradamus to say that. It’s fucking obvious.

Our recruitment policy was and is a bloody shambles.

Alli needs to realise he is NOT the player he thinks he is. He was rightly subbed off but acted as if it was a wrong decision.

Toby annoys me to the core with his slowness in playing the ball forward. Often, he stays in his spot, looks around, then passes it to Jan, when there are so many other players in front of him (winks, aurier and lo celso) waiting to receive. Slows down the momentum!

Lo Celso and Lamela should continue to start together. You can see good understanding between them that needs further polishing through more games together. They make us resemble more of a top flight team than the rubbish we've been dishing out of late.

Aurier had a good game in defence, but not so going forward. Oh well, he's a defender first and foremost, so he gets a lot of credit today.

Moura has one of the worst 1st touches of a footballer. He runs a lot, move forward, but is let down by his poor touch and decisions.

Gedson showed that he can contribute. His running into space and making himself available is a big plus for the fluidity of the team.

Tanganga showed that he isnt a LB. But full credit to the young man for showing character.

Gazza MOM for that penalty save and overall good play.

Average play from Winks, Son and Jan.

Totally agree with the above points.

I believe we are starting to see some improvement defensively. Unfortunately it does seem to have taken away some of our attacking threat. Hopefully we will find the balance sooner rather than later.

The main area I would like to see improvement is the movement and tempo all round. Too often it was slow and static, which gets you nowhere particularly against a team with numbers back.

Gazzaniga 7.5 Saved the late pen plus a rare clean sheet

Aurier 7 Roaring at him 1st half for hesitating with crosses, much better 2nd half, 2 crosses plus marked their best player
Jan 6 Creaking....has lost half a yard of pace and it shows
Toby 6.5 Bullied by their big bloke but kept in it. Restricted distribution opportunities
Tang 5.5 Why at left back? Versatile but sure not his preference. Exposed because Dele and Son absent. Needed Sess in front of him today

Winks 6 Thought he generally passed well but a couple of mind fades nearly cost us
Lo celso 6.5 Buzzer. Reminds me of Dominguez from way back

Dele 5 For such an athlete we tolerate too much half arsed shit from Dele. Put him alongside Winks and make him face the game and play
Lamela 5.5 Not his best game. He is an all heart player in his way but never had a clear role and was peripheral
Son 5.5 Tried on left and more central. Below par today
Lucas 6 An hour of running up front alone but no real impact.

Eriksen 6 More time from a bloke we have all moved on from. This is a sign of the limited cards Mourinho has in his hand
Fernandes NET Looked mobile

Mourinho 6 Feel sorry for him. Throwing out teams with massive attacking intent but learning that Winks needs help and too many fancy Dan's is unbalanced. Needed to play a three today with Sess and Aurier wingbacks...Tanganga as RCB.

Cameos? I thought they all started and play most of the match. The only one who had a cameo was Gedson imo.

Nothing against Gazza, but he guessed right on a piss poor penalty and is smashing it in the ratings.
As he should! "Guess" wrong and its two more points to them and one less for us!

As well as saving a penalty (which wasn’t just pure luck btw) he also made several other key saves, was solid with his handling and kicking throughout. He was a very deserved MOM for us.

Somewhere in this thread it was pointed out that Toby now seems to back away from advancing forwards .True .

He did this in a recent match to a point where the forward scored past him and Gazza . Looks like he's lost confidence or agility
