A dodgy Spanish source called The Sun reported back at the start of the window that City were prepared to let him go

"Cancelo's agent Jorge Mendes"

The link all makes sense now. We arent in for him. The papers in every country are just going through Mendes' client list and linking us with random players each day. That's all thats happening here.

To be fair I’m kind of shocked when I find out any player isn’t represented by Jorge Mendes. He’s got his fingers in more pies than a fat lad working at Greggs.

I think he is a good player but to put into context I think he nowhere near as good as Perriera whom, along with Trent, are the best right backs in ten country.
I liked the idea of one for he up
And coming right backs more to be honest.

I probably would, yes, safe in the knowledge that someone pretending to be an internet police officer would be along shortly to correct me and remind everyone that they take this shit far too seriously. And I would continue to laugh.

And you'd still be wrong. A roundup of rumours is not a 'report'.

This guy is the one I think we should have tried really hard for originally. I think if he was given regular game time he would be great in our current system.

...that's literally how reporting works
Nah, that’s report-ception. Reporting a report is the equivalent of trawling the internet for stories, and saying “someone told me...”

Reporting is a journalist telling the story of what happened, and associated activity.

The thing about having a guy like Mendes or a similar super agent on your side, is that if one his players wants to leave the selling club is reluctant to push back too hard lest they sour the relationship with the agent and have him steer clients away in the future.

If Mourinho and Mendes convinced Cancelo this was the spot for him, I could see City acquiescing.

That works both ways.
