Great to see him get the 90 mins in his legs. Some nice touches and movement. He’s still not quite there mentally yet, though. Caught in possession cheaply a couple of times and he’s still not confident enough to use his dribbling, which was one of the key stats that was making him stand out at Betis last year.

Seen enough to suggest there's a damn good player there and he visibly stepped up first half in particular to influence the game and provide a good link up with Lamela and/or Moura.

Fitness obviously a concern but that applies to vast swathes of this squad currently.

Certainly worth the punt of a permanent deal with the ever so likely departure of Eriksen.

Looked solid but not sure yet if he's really good or just ok. With Sissoko out and Eriksen hopefully sold soon he should get plenty of time to show what he's made of.

I definitely don't think he's 'really good' at the moment, but he's adding something to our game that we otherwise lack. I find there's just something about him that's kind of flimsy or inexperienced even, looks like a 'talented youngster' out there sometimes as opposed to an already accomplished player. I do think as @danielneeds says, it's a mental thing too though.

Excited to see more of him though, should 100% be starting over Eriksen.

Its all there but as others say above he still looks a bit rusty. There was one moment towards the end where he slid to close down a shot from the edge of the box which just tipped over the bar. Was glad to see that as too often our players watch the ball.

If he gets a run and has a bit of luck then I think he could really become a good player for us.

Already seen it what - 3 times? The diva-diving stuff?

Pathetic.

Can see he's from La Liga. Reckon Mourinho doesn't like that.

Not impressed by him today either, worked his arse of though.

Not impressed by macho man Eriksen today either.

Do we really need another Lamela clone?

Hope I’m wrong and still has time to prove us all wrong but atm he’s not in Eriksens class and that’s who we are looking at to be replaced

Just more gradual dumbing down of this squad with inadequate replacements

Walker
Dembele
Eriksen...

You're right, he's not in Eriksen's class, he actually puts in a shift and puts his foot in.m

Best game for us, ran the show. Have to sign him. Him and Lamela link up so nicely, wish Lamela would bloody stay fit as these two could be a great combination if they get a run of games together.

You know he's only 23, Eriksen is 27, and has only just moved to England and never played in the PL. Eriksen and Son were both very suspect at the beginning. On top of that he's clearly not match fit and lacking sharpness. I don't understand your comment at all.

Hope your right but saying he’s 23 is not like saying he’s 19/20...

The rest I’ll grant you and hope he really improves. I just worry a little from what we’ve seen so far

Mourinho: "I am happy with Lamela and Gio. Lamela was out for so long, he has been coming back step by step. You could see his fitness is coming. Gio again has been step by step. He was so, so good against Liverpool and so, so good here again.
