Flashspur why are you acting like someone has punched your nan in the ovaries just because they want Koulibaly? Nobody has to 'win you over.' Its not like Levy is holding off on signing him because SC hasnt convinced you he is worth it yet.

Sorry King. I had an opinion and I was sharing it. My sincere apologies. I prostrate my abject self before you.

I was asking why we would want a CB from a poxy Italian league who is supposedly the second best CB on the planet. I’ve watched the same CB quite often and haven’t been impressed. I think he will struggle in the PL. A simple question no?

You know when people absolutely haven’t watched a single fucking minute of football besides the premier league, then claim to be this omniscient narrator of football just to get clout from people on an Internet forum?

This is proof of what happens when it backfires and people realise you’re an idiot. Not directed at anyone though.

I watch a lot of italian football my friend. The fact that he is mourinho s no 1 target says it all. In your opinion who is your preferred option?

OK these would be my preferred options but are they gettable? Some of them may not be. But if you want to spend 90m on an almost 29 year old, I’d risk it and go younger. Plus 90m gives you leverage.

For younger CBs I like the look of Marquinhos, Milan Skriniar, Jose Maria Giminez and Nicky Sule. Skriniar has paid his dues in Italy but already looks like he’d transition easily to other leagues. I think the Bundeslegia has some other great talent in Retsos, Tah and Dortmunds Akanji. I think both Upemecano and Konate will be world class in future. I like both the Portuguese young guns in Diaz and Ferro. Ferro can be slow off the mark but reads the game so well. If I was going to spend that kind of money I think Diaz looks the most promising. Tah would be second. I’d love a punt on Skriniar or Giminez but bigger clubs are already in line. Both of these are going to be monsters in my opinion.

I think we've been risking and going young for quite a while now mate and its not working out. What about a world class, experienced player thats immense in almost every aspect of his game doesn't appease to you? The guy is defo the 2nd best in the world right now, name me a better CB aside from VVD. So what if he's 29 bro... you still wanna be stuck in Poch days where we just invested in youngsters and hoped? Lets get some immediate influence into the team, stamp some authority and fucking defend properly. We don't need another young ass centre back to 'learn' off two belgian CB's that are past it.
Couple names you said are players I would take but they would require time to implement into the team, however what we need now is instant change, we are pretty in crisis at the moment. Koulibaly would instantly confirm us top 4 and would be a mainstay in his prime with us for about 4 years. He would contribute massively to us winning titles.

You don't think it's worth doing a poll then.

It certainly doesn't seem far fetched to suggest that we could do with an experienced head with a history of winning major medals.

People, might not agree with me,but we could probably get Konate and Badiashile for a simailar amount of money, that it would cost for KK

This is the problem.

2 years into the Poch project we had a young team and people generally praised that we had a team that could grow together and was young enough to last several seasons.
4 years into the Poch project we had a young team that could win things, they just needed to break the seal and get that mentality
After 5 years of the Poch project we apparently had a stale team that needed rebuilding.

I don't think people want another 4 or 5 years of being fluffers for other teams. We might get players with 3 or 4 seasons left in them, but perhaps we should try and win stuff within the next 3 or four seasons, rather than buy young potential and hope to be trying to win something in 3 or 4 seasons.

Koulibaly is typical of the kind of player Mourinho will target. Yes, younger players, would make sense and I'm sure Levy would want that to but Mourinho is not someone who is going to bring on young players. Poch, Pep, Klopp and Rodgers are your men if that is what is required.

He'll want experienced, ready made players he is confident will slip into his style of play without too much issue and so offer him the best chance of actually winning something in the shortest amount of time. Young players are still learning the game and in all honesty I don't think coaching and bringing on individual players is Mourinho's forte. He has won things where ever he has gone and I'm sure he'll want to carry that on at the very least for his own record.

This is the same Mourinho underneath and maybe a happy medium can be found where we we can have a sprinkling of younger players Mourinho can work with, but I'm pretty sure he'll want quality proven talent in the core of the team.

Not sure any of them have any more of a record of developing young players than Mourinho.

All jokes aside, Fazio according to reports is a very good CB in Italy.

Are we sure that KK is going to adapt to the EPL?

VVD to be fair came from Scotland so adjusted seamlessly
I never thought VD would cope with English football having watched him play for Celtic. It’s so difficult to gauge player’s transitions from one league to the next. But he is a very good centre back.

He's the same age that Dembele was at his best so if he can give us a few years at that type of level then he'll be well worth it. As long as we can still finance a defensive midfielder I'm all for it. I'm thinking along the lines of Wanyama who was about 23 and not too expensive when we signed him. If we have to wait until the summer for that though so be it. I still think Dier could come good under Jose considering he suffered a long term illness and is only 25. If this guy is available and we have to spend big then I'm sure we can fund 1 big transfer every half season. It will just be a matter of whether we spend the Lo Celso money in the summer and have much left after.
