He was never going to make the cup game anyway.

The longer quote, without bits missed to to mislead is as follows.

How long is Harry Kane out for?
"I don't know yet, maybe later today we have news but if you ask me just my feeling – good news or bad news – I am more on bad news than good news, that's my feeling. What the player felt, Harry Kane leaving a match, the way he did it, he didn't think twice, it didn't take him two seconds to realise the severity of the situation, some opinions from the medical department before the test results. I don't think we're going to have good news. But the reason we're here is because of the beautiful FA Cup and in relation to that we can say that no Middlesbrough for Harry Kane."

Mourinho on Kane: "Some opinions from the medical department before the test results. I don't think we're going to have good news. We can say that no Middlesbrough [in the FA Cup] for Harry Kane."

Is that angry emoji face what Mourinho looked like whilst feeding back that info lol?

Nice and informative from Spurs but a tear doesn't sound good. See you in March hopefully, Harry

Following assessment today (Friday), we can confirm that Harry Kane suffered a tear in his left hamstring during our New Year's Day fixture against Southampton.

Our medical staff will continue to review the injury with treatment ongoing.

I hope we do not rush him back for the champions league final again this year ... I’m sure he will be ok for the euro’s though and he will be knackered next season as a result

I doubt we'll see him til April. Need to sign a striker. Son/Troy/Lucas are not long term viable options.

You don't buy an expensive player to cover a muscle injury. We have far better uses for our funds at the moment.
Exactly.

Son has proved time and again he can fulfil the role leading the line and we adapt very well so I can never understand the clamour for getting in any Tom, Dick or (ahem) Harry in when Kane gets an injury.

Not ideal obviously this news but Son up top, Moura to deputise and hopefully more minutes for Parrott and we'll be fine.

Much more concerned at other areas of the pitch...

Son is more than capable to cover for long periods, he has proved that before.

However we need a new striker regardless.

All hamstring pulls are tears. Just depends on how many of the fibres are torn. A grade 1 is a mild tear (sometimes you can carry on) a 2 is a partial tear and a 3 is a rupture.

Recovery time depends on loads of things including how many fibres were torn.

We have Kane, Lucas and Parrott. We need a new DM and some new fullbacks.

Until we sign a viable back up to give him a rest once in a while we will run him into the ground every season and it will threaten his career.
