It was said that there were several clubs willing to pay the 25 mill to take him, but he was not interested in going these particular clubs.
Who were those clubs though? He obviously wasn't going to go to a smaller team than us. The biggest club with reported interest in him was Roma and that would be a sideways step at best. Man City should have been all over him, and I can't imagine him turning them down.
he never wanted to leave.

I said weeks before MP was sacked certain players would be interested in resigning if Poch was to go. if not they'd be leaving.
I obviously don't know the goings on beihnd the scenes, but as I said above, there didn't seem to be any bigger teams than us after him. Maybe there was, but I can't imagine he would turn them down thinking that he would outlast Poch.

Shows why we needed to make the change really.

Clearly the ITK about Jose rating the squad is true otherwise he would be wanting to hold deals like this off

Wants to see how they respond to his in depth training sessions before making too many changes

Another credit to our PR team by announcing Toby's signing today, therefore diluting the news effect of Mikel Arteta's move to the gooners!!
o_O It's worked a treat!

Meh. I just assume fat thumbs, it's not something that bothers me.

I got spammed for just saying thank you to someone once haha.
It's your own fault for going off-topic! Thank yous? What do you think this is, a polite forum for conversation? No, my friend - it's a blood and guts horror show where only the strong survive.

Thanks for the share.

Would be nice to see us make at least one move this January. However I understand why he would want to wait

Considering that with the potential contract expirations we would have needed to buy 3-4 defenders this summer, locking down one of Toby or Jan was absolutely essential. Well done to the club.

Long shot but would love to see him paired with an athletic and physically dominant CB partner like Koulibaly to cover up for his slightly declining athleticism. Let him focus on being a focal point for progressing the ball out of the back.

Makes perfect sense

It would be counter productive to spend a ton of money on say a DM, if Skipp responded well to Mourinho’s coaching methods.

£180k a week apparently

But of course LeVy hASn't ChAnGeD
And who could begrudge him that as evens out with the £50k he’s been on the last few years.

Been utterly professional throughout all the speculation, always put in a shift and has been duly rewarded.

Just hoping Jan now gets a two year contract.

Mourinho likes experience and this can also help develop our young CBs for the future.

Great piece of business, so chuffed ?

Oh Toby Toby, he was going to leave for free, his hair dressers so happy, oh Toby Toby.

Great fucking news, think I'll crank one out.
