Given that we’ve scooped up an entire coaching team from France, it certainly makes sense that there would be one or two Ligue 1 players they’ve had their eye on.

There’s quite a list of players at Lille. They’re RB, GK, Soumare, and ST are all players that would be welcomed with open arms.

Well, instead of who? It sounds ridiculous, but what if JM does not rate N'Dombele?

He’s certainly a talent, but far from what we need. Lille tend to use a 4-2-3-1 with a high press. The 2 “defensive mids” don’t really act as typical dm’s because of this high press. Getting him would jeopardize what we could do with GLC and Tanguy in the midfield.

Looks like a raw, less skilled version of Ndombele. As I noted before this thread was opened, he's never averaged more than 1 tackle or interception per game, it's basically what Eriksen averages. Clearly not a DM.

In his 4 seasons at Genk and Leicester, Ndidi has never averaged less than 3.8 tackles per game and 2.2 interceptions per game. That's the type of player we need. As another example, Zakaria is 2.4 tackles per game and 1.9 interceptions.

I really like the look of Soumare in a vacuum, but considering the absolutely pressing needs we have CDM, CB, and RB it would be a massive resource allocation mistake to spend 40m+ on another box-to-box midfielder.

Mourinho's already stated that he wants his CMs to be organizers, disciplined etc. GLC doesn't fit into that description, so signing someone like Soumare wouldn't affect him. The way Jose described his midfielders makes it sound like GLC will be competing with Dele and Lucas, not Winks/Ndombele/potentially Soumare

I get that you like stats but please stop posting them like they are facts as in reality they are quite misleading. Watching some of his clips on youtube he definitely makes more tackles and interceptions than your stats suggest.

In the game below he makes 4 interceptions and 3 tackles.

Against PSG below he makes 2 tackles (arguably 3) and 1 interception

Im in no way saying he is our DM answer but these stats dont add up for me.

Telling someone there stats on averages are misleading, because you watched a few highlight reels that show him tackling.

The numbers span his career and give the overall picture, across all types of opponents. It isn't an exact science, but it's a good measure.

Tbh I know little about the player either way.

Actually im telling him they are misleading because often tackling and interception stats can differ so much. Some that we would call tackles are counted as interceptions and some that are interceptions arent even counted depending on the play. Plus sometimes a player is dribbling and gets tackled and a second later regains possession and it isnt counted as a tackle even though it was technically one.

So thanks for weighing in but yeah I will judge with my own eyes even if its only highlights of a couple of games rather than focus on unreliable web stats.

I would still rather Zakaria to Soumare anyway.

Konrad Laimer of Leipzig would be my shout. Reads the game superbly, super mobile across the park and gets stuck into tackles. Second highest tacklers per 90 in the Bundesliga this season. Only 22 as well.
