Great to hear that he did well again today after a very tough evening for him in Munich

Can only be good for him and Tottenham that his fitness and strength keep improving and he’s slowly joining the dots up

I’ve certainly not given up on him returning to his best form after such long injury and illness lay offs

Unfortunately Wanyama is finished but thankfully Dier is very much still alive and kicking

He wasn't just better today, he was very very good... And that's from someone who thinks he is poor, but credit where credit is due, he was mom today. And the main reason we didn't fold.

A guy I was speaking to at the Burnley game said that Dier suffered a ruptured appendix last season. Anyone know if that's correct? If true, that's life threatening ad it's hardly surprising it's taking him a while to get back up to speed.

Dier had a good game, fitness is slowly coming back and was covering positions he wouldn't have been getting into a few weeks back.

The issue with CM is that we don't have a good partnership.

If Ndombele was fit that would have been perfect.

Better but still not convinced, Moutinho and Neves ran rings around our midfield today
Yeah, but they are one of the best midfield partnerships in the league and have played together consistently since they signed. They outplay most midfields.

Dier was let down by the front 4 today. They gave it away so cheaply so many times with sloppy passes. It just put us straight back under pressure.

and if jose rates him thats good enough for me as jose certainly knows a player and their potential etc.

Well played today, my son.
great to hear he had a good game. He's had tons of injuries and illnesses related to his appedixcitus so i always thought he'd need a good run of games to properly get back up to speed and playing at a good level. He needs a better CM partner than Sissoko, someome who can dribble and pass and is creative but if he's doing what hes in the team to do with winning headers and tackles and intercepting play and keeping things ticking along and dropping into the back to get the ball etc etc then thats great.

I think it was appendicitis rather than a full ruptured appendix. Pretty routine, though for the rare few it can have additional complications. Normally takes 5-6 weeks to get back to relative full fitness. Whilst not ideal I don't think that's the reason his form dropped off a cliff prior or after the op.

probably get disagreed with a lot, but i think he was only marginally better today. still looks slow and off the pace, and is very weak in the tackle.

but he is definitely improving, so hopefully he can continue to get better. is he the long term answer in DCM - not for me.

I think he is getting stronger in the tackle in every game.

Can we do better, probably, yes. But it would be fantastic to have up to speed in the not too distant future.

Was very unlucky not to have a fabulous goal to his name today.

The club definitely said appendicitis at the time, but Dier himself said in an interview a few weeks back that he was only just feeling well again so I did wonder when a rupture was mentioned. He got tonsillitis around the same time as well, the poor bugger (Dier that is, not the geezer at the Burnley game).
