The more you see Jose speak the more you think without the primadonnas that think about themselves over the team (Pogba, Hazard etc) that we might have exactly the sort of group of players that respond to him and especially if he can bring more carrot than stick to his approach that worked in his early roles and improve the squad in certain areas and bring in a battle hardened warrior or two as we can be a bit too nice at times

Feel like if things continue the way the have, even with the inevitable ups and downs, we are on the cusp of something special with Mourinho at the Helm.

The club, players and fans all have a new found positive energy since he arrived. That can be the monumental push we need to finally deliver some silverware.

He looked as bored as poch with doing the CL press conferences. I wonder why they are so much more hassle for managers than the normal league ones. He couldn't wait for it to be over. In fairness they did ask silly questions.

This was the whole basis on why I thought Mourinho would be a clever appointment for us, regardless of what happened in his last two PL jobs. So far it does seem like it's panning out that way so far. Neville called it a marriage of convenience but I think both the manager and squad are getting just what they need at the right time.

My favourite was the pointless final question about his first game away against Bayern Munich as Chelsea manager when he had the touchline ban. He must have thought why are you bring this up nearly 15 years later? His answer of how he planned to go to his hotel room and guide the team from there by contacting his assistant there - but he was pissing himself laughing saying "We were already 1-0 up before I got to my hotel room..." - He just laughed, got up and left. Pretty hilarious.

At the press conference Mourinho is asked why he suddenly started to learn German. "Out of curiosity" was the reply. I call bullshit. He wanted the Bayern Munich job (y)

He certainly grows on you.....
Never thought I would want to see him managing my team but he's going the right way about convincing me.

He's a linguaphile who got a coaching break as a translator. It's hardly out of character for him to learn languages, especially at a point in time (pre-season) where he is completely unused to not working long hours.

Speaking German would, I imagine, be just as useful for working with German players outside of the Bundesliga too.

So he had lots of free time and decided to learn a bit of German on the off-chance that he was approached for a job there. Not really an issue as far as I'm concerned.

Jose seems like the kind of guy who likes to learn, and languages is obviously something he excels in, so adding German to his already top quality portfolio of languages he can speak is a common sense thing to do. Whether he was doing so because of the Bayern job is unlikely since someone was in that job for the majority of the time that he was out of work. It's one of the big jobs in football, but he equally might have fancied a crack at the Dortmund job, or even Leipzig. It's irrelevant at this point - but maybe in 3 years time it won't be irrelevant. Who knows, football is an ever-changing landscape.

Perhaps he likes languages.

Wiki entry..........."Apart from his native Portuguese, Mourinho speaks Spanish, Italian, French, Catalan and English to varying degrees of fluency.."

Was that the alleged hiding in the laundry bin game though?

If it was, I can understand the question, if a bit pointless.

I believe it was indeed that game. 14 years ago. I imagine he's talked about this incident a million times previously. His response was top notch though, anyway. He just laughed it off.

So erm with the ball we look ok in the front third. We got in two or three times in the first half and could have scored three or four. Then again they could have had six or seven./.

Without the ball we look shit

Defensively we are not that great even against teams inferior to Burnley

Oh and this fuckin hoofing has GOT TO STOP.

I suspect the two DMs would win th eball and we attack from there but the thing is our DMs are a bit shit.

For a manager that is supposed to be a tactical genius, I'm seriously concerned that he thought playing a midfield of Dier and Sissoko against Coutinho, Tiago and Kimmich would work.
Yea agree with that mate. I’ve been very pro jose so far but that performance did concern me slightly as yes it was basically our B team vs their A team minus Lewandoski BUT as you say their midfield 3 vs Dier and Sissoko was a recipe for disaster.

but I think jose picked that team to give certain players match fitness and to rest others and he’s trying to keep us playing the same formation and shape until he’s had more time to coach the team properly BUT I have to say we got utterly dominated, especially in the 2nd half bayern completely controlled the game.

it shows quite a few of our back up players are a long day off that level but also tactically we got outmanoeuvred which is a tad worrying as that was an issue for jose at man.u when people said his style is outdated and he can struggle against a high press high possession side.

just observations but let’s see.
We also need to buy a top top class mobile CM or mabye 2!
