It’s the equivalent of a Davids type signing... cheap, shed loads of experience and both rated and purchased before by Mourinho. Matic makes a lot of sense for a short term signing... short being for a couple of years.
Ditto. We need his kind of experience. He is a proven shrewd winner.

No thanks. Our issue on the pitch is neither experience nor leadership related, it’s a lack of a mobile defensive midfielder to get around and shut down attacks before they start. Wanyama, Sandro, Parker, Palacios. Would much rather Phillips or maybe Zubeldia from Sociedad, someone tigerish.

No.
Just...
No.

Why? He was fantastic at Chelsea, then Man U paid £40m for him two seasons (a lot of money at the time) and now he’s shit all of a sudden? Where are the young, energetic, athletic, affordable DM’s everyone’s craving?

Matic - experienced, cheap, a Mourinho favourite, knows his position inside out and has a very good range of passing.

Yes we would like a more athletic DM but we need protection for our back between Jan and the end of the season, and it’s not all about speed... there’s plenty of quality players who run in treacle, the difference is they know their role and perform their duties.

A move for him has got an inevitability about it. Really wouldn't be surprised to see him here in Jan. I'd rather we went for someone younger but I think Mourinho will want someone tried and tested for that position and someone he can rely on.

Llorente had just scored 15 goals for Swansea... Matic has been rubbish for united

Rubbish yet Utd fans are missing him. What were Spurs for the last year pre Mourinho? Utter shite.

Personally for couple years wouldn’t mind him. His positional sense is mad in a nice way. His distribution is excellent. Skippy would learn loads from him.

Do you think Matic would sign a 2 year deal? I think he'd be looking for at least 3 years on good wages. I'd say that with a possible 15m signing on fee that puts the deal at around 35m which is a huge risk on a player showing signs of quite a decline. I'd sooner we went for a long term solution as a top priority.

I am on the fence with this one. We need someone of his pedigree in that position, but does he still have it?

I don't know why anyone would judge him based on whether Solksjaer picks him. He's hardly a renown managerial talent.

He plays a very specific role in a Mourinho team, which doesn't have a place in a Solskjaer team.

Even in the last year of Mourinho at ManU he looked like he was carrying the weight of a thousand men trying to get around the pitch. Other than him being good for Mourinho 2 years ago nothing in the last 18 months or so has been any indicator that he is still that player. We have plenty of defensive midfielders you would totally buy if you were buying the player from 2 years ago and not who they are today.

He is shit. We should be signing players in their prime.

Emre Can would be a good signing.
