He’s excited about the academy.....we’ll see

Presume that means he’ll work on developing & improving players like Tanganga. Or will he play Lucas Moura at centre half to prove a point when we don’t sign Varane.

If he couldn’t do it at United with a blank cheque book, how the hell is he gonna do it at spurs?!

One of the main reasons poch stagnated is because the club couldn’t afford his preferred signings for the price they were touted.

Do I like this change no but I can understand why levy has done it.

The biggest barrier for us is taking the final step and winning things the reason we have failed is due to mentality, if Mourhino can add this and sort the dressing room contract scwabbles out he will start on the right foot.

AVB was a cheap version of Mourhino, just hope the real thing plays better attacking football.

I feel sorry for Poch as bad as we have been for a while now think he had done enough in his reign to warrant having to the end of the season to try sort things.
Jose is not my cup of tea but the guy is a proven winner and if his dull football brings trophies i would take it all day long.

Nooo
I cannot get my head around this.
It's ridiculous -this guy is poison.
Levy should have been more patient-shown more trust in Poch
I'm so fukin disgusted

Will be interesting to see what he makes of the squad. There is no doubt he knows what he is doing and has some realism about signing players.

No doubt the players will be rocked by Poch sacking but you would think excited by the prospect of working with Mourinho. I suspect it also sends a message about the club's status and expectations.

Mourinho would not join if he didn't think he had a chance to win silverware, particularly the PL.

I'm guessing you weren't paying attention to how Ed Woodward worked when he was there

Point taken that it wasn’t so much a blank chequebook, but how much difference is there in the transfers aspect when you compare Woodward’s approach to Levy’s?

the last time he did it without transfer backing was Porto.

He has a damaged reputation that it sounds like he acknowledges that he wants to rectify.
He is a proven winner in 3 major leagues so has some kind of pedigree.
As long as he doesn't leave us in too bad a mess when he inevitably walks out the door he could actually give us the backbone that we have been missing as a club for decades.

I'll repeat it - he wanted Alderweireld last summer but they wouldn't buy him. In that summer they bought Dalot, Fred, and an old goalkeeper when he'd been publicly asking for a CB.

The thing about levy not spending comes from the fans not the managers we've had, so this is very much new ground from now on

Ive always known we're special, this now confirms it.

What's done is done, we can't change it so good luck Maureen.

Personally I would never have put Levy and Jose working together for obvious reasons but since Jose has had time off he sounds like he has taken stock of everything, he's started to take the mick out of himself, he is more philosophical and fresh, he sounds like he has been reborn as a manager, I think its going to be very interesting because there is no chance he is going to buy a title with us so he must have fresh thoughts and ideas or he wouldn't have considered us.

Although I'm not a massive fan of mourinho, you can't ignore his success. Also read that article that someone posted in another thread where Jose has been preparing for his return to management. He talks about needing to change his coaching methods and has put together a new coaching team. We could be getting an invigorated Jose, willing to change and with a point to prove. I'm quite excited to see how this pans out

we’ll have to agree to disagree then, I personally don’t see levy properly backing the manager anytime soon but obviously will be happy to be proved wrong.

I'm hurting and probably will for some time
This Managerial horror show is more a ten second fuck than a satisfying relationship
more a rape than even a one night stand.

We did this once before to Uncle Martin and didn't that go well.
Ramos who actually won something but only the League Cup,
Redknapp, Boas and Sherwood and a decade in the football wilderness
until we restored some pride and dignity with Mauricio
a man with a plan, a project, a vision but the rest of the footballing world didn't approve.

We've sold out all that and taken on the pundits and newspapers agenda for us.
Now they can relax especially with the appointment of the 'not so special one'
We've rejoined the herd, no longer doing it differently.
Frank Sinatra weeps for us.

Lets hope Mourinho can go one better that Pochettino and win the Champion's League.
Anything else apart from the Premiership is a mere bauble
and that's what we've sold our souls for.

'But you didn't win anything' will be inscribed on your grave
and there is no guarantee that we will anything in the foreseeable future
but hey the man's a winner and that's all that matters.
Our inferiority complex exposed for all to see.

Thanks Mauricio and your staff and forgive us.
You don't owe us anything but we owe you bigly.
