Ah dear, people defending both idiots who have both had a hand in where we find ourselves today.

Feels a little ‘no smoke without fire’ but makes no sense at all why we’d be losing Poch this week and not immediately after Sheff U, if it has to happen.

I think I’m on board with the Jose idea. Could be brilliant, could be a disaster, wont be average.

We know how Levy likes to get his ducks lined up. Maybe he's still working on that. It's not just the manager either. If Mourinho is the man he'll have his own crew coming in with him (which I find quite scary), and all that needs to be ready to hit the ground running.

The Telegraph. It’s clearly not click bait.

There are a number of factors preventing Levy from sacking Poch. Firstly the level of compensation, then the fear he goes to Man U and finally the lack of available and suitable replacements.

You think Levy will allow our dreadful decline to continue because he’s worried Poch will go to United? In what way does that make any sense.

Levy isn’t stupid he wouldn’t have handcuffed himself into an overly expensive compensation package.

The only reason he hasn’t been sacked yet is Levy is hoping he turns it around and has given him plenty of time but it’s more in vain hope than anything else. I can understand why Levy has stood by Poch longer than he would anyone else.

You can tell the players desperately need a new manager, voice and regime.

And much as I think Jose would be great for us, my heart still hopes against hope for a Lazarus like Pochettino comeback. Despite all the months of evidence to the contrary.

Not to mention consecutive years of real achievement, most notably in final league placings. It is looking like this season will be a long and arduous one compared to those, but it shouldn't be easy to discard a winning manager at the first sight of hardship.

There's no magic answer here. And while Poch has made missteps, it is not a straightforward to sack or a purely financial decision.

And of course, if you reckon it'd be a problem if he ended up elsewhere, you have to wonder why you'd consider sacking at all.

Matt Law & John Percy seems to be waging a two man crusade with this. Until others join in with their own stories and not just rehashing this one then I’d still treat it with trepidation.

Edit: I see others have mentioned the times and mail running with it too. Sounds like it’s leaked out from the players if they’ve been messaging each other expecting something to happen.
Feel like the fact that John Percy has put his name to this I’m inclined to feel that this is quite true

Because of Poch's historical managerial failures. Look at the big picture mate. How many times did Southampton qualify for the Champions League? I'll tell you. None. He's a serial nearly man. If we want a stick to beat him, at least do the job properly.

I don’t see why it would be such a problem if he ended up elsewhere. He is failing to fulfill the requirements of the role here and has done for some time.

If he happens to fulfill the requirements of a role elsewhere - so what?

If his new club end up taking 3 points off us - so what?

The bigger risk is keeping him here and allowing him to continue heamorraging points on a weekly basis.

Plenty of other teams have decent managers, we don’t lose sleep over them, so we certainly shouldn’t lose sleep at the idea of Pochettino playing against us.

Let’s face it, any incoming manager worth their salt will know what tactics Poch is going to use a good 6 weeks in advance. Even Colchester knew that much.

Telegraph speculating we might be interested in Eddie Howe and Gareth Southgate.

Are we really that shit?

He’s covered us for years hasn’t he?

No idea who wrote the articles but if one was Matt Hughes then he’s just shit stirring like normal

Can’t help but think if Mourinho was high up on the list then we’d have sacked Poch by now. We all know DL has previously sounded out replacements before managerial sackings.I reckon he wants a yes man at the end of the season so Nagelsmann and Howe being linked doesn’t surprise me one bit. Therefore if he’s got no choice but to do it then expect a caretaker - Hughton possibly?

Surely the anti Pochettino brigade would be delighted if he was replaced by Howe or Southgate, :sneaky:

Would prefer Howe of the 2. If we genuinely knew that was the best we could get, I would rather keep Poch, until better alternatives are available.

Well Chris is Tottenham through and through, it might be worth a shot. I'm more inclined to think it's negotiating severance terms for Poch and terms with his replacement that's taking the time behind the scenes.
