Interesting post on Reddit in which the poster suggest the signing of Santiago Ascacibar, 22 year old Argentine DM currently playing for Stuttgart in the German second division. I hadn't heard of him before, but he seems like a player who would fit what we need from the No. 6 position and who would be available in January. Thought it was an interesting shout and wanted to pass it along.

Also in the German Second Division Niklas Dorsch who was meant to be the next Toni Kroos. Left Bayern as he didn’t see a pathway to the first team.

As mentioned he's 22, he's still developing...how do you know he cannot develop the skills and attributes to play in a 4-3-3?
He could definitely fit into a 433, playing at a high level if these two things are remedied:

He needs to work on ball retention and not give the ball away so easily, especially in the middle third of the pitch where opposition counterattacks are quickly sprung.

His fitness. He currently plays like he’s still carrying a knock. If you look at footage of him from two or more years ago, while not blessed with pace, he was direct and dynamic. Unless you’re Pirlo, you need to be energetic in a three man midfield, especially as he lacks the skills or abilities to play defensive midfield or as a deep lying playmaker

Yeah needs to improve his first touch, speed of thought and his fitness will come back in due time...one thing that you cannot teach though is his ability to appear in the box unmarked which made Lampard such a good player.

Given his current form, injuries, off field antics we would have to take a hit on his once prime fee... even in today’s market I think we would be lucky to get £60-80m for him. Another way of looking at it and it would be subject to the club’s priorities but the Alli fee would cover the purchase of 2 new full backs. Seriously though, with the players we will be losing for free/knocked down fees we need to recoup the money from somewhere if we’re wanting to rebuild our depleted squad. Based on form/circumstances over the last 18 months the 2 players whom are potentially expendable and would bring in some decent money are Dier and Alli.

Check out our financials on Companies House. We have roughly £300m in retained earnings. We have money to spend if the club deems it necessary to, not to mention a new projected world record for profit forecast for this year once the accounts are out. (Rumoured to be c£150m before tax and interest etc)

I say we keep Dele. At 23 years of age we hold the cards but I feel we were to leave and regain his form we'd be kicking ourselves. Focus on what he cost initially and not the mental transfer fees some will pay. For £60m as you've mentioned not a chance I'd be letting a talent like Dele go even if he's faded a fair bit.

We’re pushing for a 433 formation = no room for Alli. How else are we planning on rebuilding our squad? There’s no bottomless pit of money.

How much would it cost to replace a player like Dele? You say that there isn't a bottomless pit of money but the guy offers so much versatility. I think people forget just how exceptional a talent he is when he's confident and fired up. He's a kid, I think and know we need to give him time.

Guys can you please use the Dele Alli thread if you are discussing him, formations and costs?

Lets keep this for players we dont own and would like to buy

This is the guy @Ossie85 wanted. Mentioned him a few pages back

What off field antics?

A simple internet search shows multiple articles and current/former footballers all referring to Alli being distracted/spending more time concentrating on his commercial activities instead of his football. He’s recently cut back on his commercial activities to concentrate on his football.

So no current off field antics then.

Just to bring this back on track - did Spurs not have tabs on Sander Berge about 18 months ago? Now look at who he is being linked with. How comes he isn't good enough for us back then yet now all of our rivals are being linked to him?

Just who is making decisions on not wanting to bring these players in when we have a (supposed) opportunity?

Interesting, thanks - where did you read the rumour about the world record?

I am sure that the answer has been posted here several times. It seems, that starting from the summer 2018, we buy the players only from the list of desired targets. If Levy cannot bring us these players , we do not buy anyone. The final decision about the quality of a player is made by Poch. Steve Hitchen merely provides the reports on desired players or provides the recommendations for the new targets. This is what I have learnt by reading all the ITKs here and Twitter
