According to scrotum necked Gary Lineker, Kane’s Kosovo goal really doesn’t matter because football was much harder to play in the old days

And just to prove how wankfuckery Lineker can be when it comes to cronyism, this from The Guardian

Hopefully he can fill his spurs boots vs that West Ham keeper.

He'll need a rest. Big pitch at the Olympic Stadium
Hopefully he can get at least one until he goes back into 2nd gear

Plus it’s Olympiacos the following Tuesday so the entire team will drop off 2nd half v the spammers

I saw with my own eyes kane working hard leading the press. Let's see what he does for us....
A press is not about one man, the whole team needs to press. Don't hold your breathe for him to do it on the weekend, cause it seems the directive is not to.

Any striker that scores lots of international goals will score a ton vs lesser opposition because of qualifying and friendlies.

A goal is a goal regardless of the opposition and if a player missed the chances against the lesser opposition they would assassinate his character and mentality..

Imagine having one of the best strikers in the world play for your team/nation but you still look to diminish his achievements.

Lineker's comment is your typical NBA old school player back in my day comment - GTFOH

It's always moving goalposts with these tossers as well. Got into it with a guy on Reddit talking about how Shearer had scored against the likes of Germany and Argentina, implying Kane's record was worthless. When I mentioned that Kane had goals and non-trivial assists against France, Spain, Germany, Croatia, Switzerland etc., he raised the level to goals in major tournaments only, which made it impossible for Kane to have a good record because he hasn't played more than a couple of top nations there (easy for casual fans to forget that he's actually only been a factor in one big tournament -- it feels like he's been around forever).

Apparently one of Shearer's world cup tap-ins is better than that time Kane cruyff'd three Germans out of the game to place one into the bottom corner past Neuer.

As a hardcore England supporter, I obviously love Shearer as a player so I'm not going to diminish his achievements, but I love Kane even more so I'm definitely not going to let other people use Shearer's achievements to diminish Kane.

What's hilarious is Rooney's record. I still love him as an England player but if anyone's a fraud on the leaderboard, it's him. Kane already has six times more world cup goals, a ridiculously higher GPG and somehow less stat-padding. Why don't any of them talk about that?

He definitely has his mojo going for England. And again, i think it has to do with the formation. It suits his strengths. And we have most of the players needed to play that way. Yes, our full backs are poor. But why not experiment with Foyth at RB and play Verts at LB. Played there once last season and was awesome. Both aren't quick, but they are certainly capable of making good crosses without having to skin a man and get to the byline.

And after that, the biggest decision is who plays in the front three with Kane. Or, I should say, it's a choice between Moura and Lamela. With a midfield of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Winks.

And yes, i know that the midfield is lightweight, but for crying out loud, it's not like I'm suggesting we replace an existing system that's working brilliantly already. We've been dross. And we keep going back to same old shit expecting something different. So, why not try something new, something that takes advantage of one of the most elite striker's in the world.

I also think that should Poch stick around until summer and we finish just below mid table, and it looks like we're in for a rebuild under a new coach, then Kane will have every right to consider his future. I admire his loyalty to his boyhood club, but we aren't going anywhere at the moment. And without CL next season and with a new coach, specifically selected to head over a rebuid, that could mean another few seasons without any trophies. I'm sure at this point Harry wants to be winning shit, and wants to be in a team that is highly capable of stockpiling trophies.

I wouldn't begrudge him wanting to go to somewhere like Madrid.

Only silver lining in that scenario is that Real would have to pay an insane transfer fee to get him. I think we're talking about 200m. And if that is directed back into a budget for player acquisition, plus with whatever existing budget we have, then at least we would have the ability to sign four or even five high quality players.

It's the same size as our pitch. Admittedly the walk to get on the pitch adds a few miles.

He's also the top scorer in qualifying despite being in one of the smaller groups, but I guess that means all of the lesser opposition teams were in our group? No-one could expect the French lads to score loads against Albania, Andorra and Moldova.

Apart from anything else the point just isn't true. Just looked back to England matches 1990-91 and 91-92 seasons with Lineker at his peak.

Hungary
Poland
Ireland
Cameroon
Ireland
Turkey
USSR
Argentina
Australia
New Zealand
New Zealand
Malaysia
Germany
Turkey
Poland
France
Czechkoslovakia
CIS
Hungary
Brazil
Finland
Denmark

Sweden

England's last two years, meanwhile:

Holland
Italy
Nigeria
Costa Rica

Colombia
Sweden
Croatia

Spain
Switzerland
Croatia

USA
Croatia
Czech Republic
Montenegro

Bulgaria
Kosovo

Bulgaria
Montenegro
Kosovo

If anything I'd say the modern fixture list is a bit harder! The only thing that can pad out goals is the introduction of total minnows like Andorra and San Marino - but we haven't drawn them, and even if we had Kane hasn't got his goal tally by knocking 4/5 past the likes of them. He's got hattricks against the kind of mid-ranking sides that Lineker may have scored one against. Gary and many of the other former internationals are mostly just sour at the fact that the modern team, bereft of some of the big names and bigger attitudes, is doing better than they ever managed.

You can't compare the two different eras, it's such a pointless argument.

Is linekar really being that bad? Genuine question as I don’t watch the bbc anymore or read football stuff, social media. His original comments re shearer seemed completely innocuous to me and more trying to give a bit of context in support of shearer’s record than any sleight on Kane (as well quite possibly being true, I don’t know). I only ever remember him being our most fervent defender on tv when I used to watch - I might be missing some context like I say.

They are all trolling. We need to get that. Kane has scored more than Ronaldo for club and country this season. The guy is insane

If we don’t make the top 4 this season or win a trophy I think it’s time we let the man go and win something. He could walk into any team in the world and we would get a record breaking amount of money to invest back into the club. Look what Pool did with the coutinho money. The guy is absolute world class and deserves trophies. He’s fiercely loyal, but I feel we are holding him back. He’s 27 next year and to be honest if he wanted to leave I wouldn’t begrudge him. I will always love, respect and admire the guy.

Why would we willingly let him go? If he doesn't want to leave why push him out the door? lol
