Yeah, fair enough assessment. My big problem with that scenario is that Phase 2 should build and follow on from Phase 1. Not start again.

This is the big fuck up by the club. It’s like building a house and just when you’re a going to do the final fit out, decide it’s badly designed and we’ll have to knock half of it down and start again.
You’ve really summed it up for me tbh, good bloody stuff.
The word ‘rebuild’ has always sat awfully with me. When you have Kane, Ndombele, Son, etc no one needs to ‘rebuild’. I could even stomach the word ‘transition’ but with Poch repeatedly using the word ‘rebuild’, it means I don’t agree with the job he feels we need to do off the pitch and I certainly don’t agree with what he’s doing on the pitch so...

I kind of feel like if we are to hire Mourinho, we should do it quickly.

For me, his main selling point is his ability to work with experienced players. Many of our experienced players may not be here long term but could up their game a bit under Jose.

I believe in this country we don't respect managers who excel at managing the highest level clubs. Ranieri at Chelsea struggled to buy the right players their vast funds allowed for. Jose knew exactly who were the top level players.

At Utd they had money but not the pulling power of the clubs above them. His signings at Utd weren't particularly successful.

I would be concerned if he could identify the right players for our club.

Howe can speak English? Innit.

Ha! Well there's that....but honestly, Pochettino pre-Spurs was a guy known for motivating his players and bringing through youth, never for his tactical mind. He made himself into a worldwide name by getting the most out of Spurs, he hasn't won a trophy but who is to say that another young manager who brings through youth, motivates his players and has a bit more tactical nous can't bring silverware?

All those wanting Jose, can u actually see Levy paying £20m a year to any manager? Can we even afford that?

The difference between what Poch earns and £20m a year is a Jack Clarke. A player who has been sent back on loan and barely even played for Leeds.

And yes I know that it’s a crude analogy because it’s additional £10m a year for the duration of the contract, but it’s just one employees wages. The most important employee. It’s not the same as any wage structure for the playing squad.

There are many things I doubt when it comes to whether we could attract or work with a manager like Jose, but what we pay him isn’t one.

To be fair, it couldn't have been the big plan to start all over again having achieved so much in that first phase. We can't un-achieve what we've done thus far, so I would assume a big part of the next phase would have been to become regular Premiership title contenders but sadly, as we all know only too well, we're light years away right now, but phase two may take much longer than phase one to achieve.

Our infra-structure is now rock solid with one of the finest training facilities in the world and one of the finest new 62,000 seat stadiums but our current problem is purely operational, insofar as players have decided to play out their contracts and leave on a free, making them financially worthless to the club, and I can see this becoming a growing trend in football, effectively ending the five and six year contract deals we see today.

This prevents us from moving on and refreshing the squad as much as we'd like to, so our growth and development is stunted and a major operational re-think is required (if it hasn't been thought about already). Perhaps the promotion of our youth players is more on the agenda, with the introduction into the first team thinking of players like Skipp, Tanganga, and Parrott (not to mention Foyth and Sessignon). Maybe this is the great coup which, if successful, could revolutionise our transfer policy with far less reliance on having to bring in massively expensive foreign stars and all the associated problems that involves.

None of us knows what the next part of the great plan is for sure, but apart from becoming legitimate Premiership title contenders and eventual winners, it's hard to see what else the ultimate goal could be. Obviously, there are some operational issues to get sorted before we can move on. 14th place after 12 games and a third of the season already gone could never have been on the agenda.

I believe next is that we have to win a trophy. We have to. There is no way to pinpoint a five years goal accurately without winning something. And I’m not talking about minor stuff. Serial CL participant, one Cl final, almost coming close to be in the race for the title twice in a row, all of that points to a need for winning a major trophy and do it quick and dirty. Unfortunately I fear that with “help” from ENIC Pochettino blew his shots at that and that a new approach is needed to successfully launch a trophy yielding campaign. I’d be gutted if Kane and others left Tottenham as runner ups, and not with a trophy to their name.

Genuinely, not being an insufferable smart ass here, why would somebody have Nagelsmann but not Howe. Who can lay out the differences for me? I know a team under Howe lines up differently than under Nagelsmann, very differently, but is that actually why one is so preferred over the other?

Can't we bribe our way to one
