Chelsea had the 3rd highest turnover when they won the league in 2014/15, that's the very definition of over achieving. I'm not buying the argument that he only won the league because everyone was poor, that's like saying Poch only finished top 4 because everyone else weren't good enough

when you have a sugar daddy turnover and spending are not really connected.

I’m still in the keep Poch camp. There’s been improvement recently. We’ve won two Champions League games and started drawing more games in the PL. We were narrowly defeated by Liverpool. Some of the signings are playing more too.

we should give him the season to turn the form around. If we start surging in the second half of the season, we can take that as a good sign for next season.

you can’t use turnover as the measure of the quality of an achievement when it’s not related to the ability to assemble a world class squad.

You can when there's other teams out there doing the same thing on a larger scale.

He said "when you have a sugar daddy turnover and spending are not really connected."

If ever there was a post that sums up the International break ^

sorry that is utter rubbish. It doesn’t apply as a measure of any of the sugar daddy clubs. To suggest otherwise is frankly bizarre.

Next you’ll be saying Man City are wildly overachieving? ? even with their artificially inflated turnover.

No. Its two things. It’s saying we don’t want to even play in the EL. That’s reasonable and ambitious no?

And also It’s saying... we agree about all the downsides to Mourinho...what’s the upside? Oh. Being more competitive in FA cup and EL (if we have to play it). It’s not worth it

No it’s snobbery of competitions. Of course we don’t want to “aim” for being in the Europa League as that would mean we lose more games than if we were in the Champions League. But when we are in it we should want to win it and not turn our noses up at it. Which is what was happening while we were in it.

The upside is that we could win a final.

I'll make it easier for you as you're clearly not understanding the point:

In 2014/15 Man City had a turnover of £352m and their wage bill was £194m, in the same season Chelsea has a turnover of £319m and their wage bill was £217m.

You're willing to point out that Chelsea had a sugar daddy but you're ready to ignore a team who are backed by an entire fucking country just because it doesn't suit your argument, so yes you can use that as an achievement because they were handicapped against a team with a higher turnover.

Despite all that @LeParisien rightly already said that wages are a true barometer of financial benefits and a measure of where your team should be finishing in the league, they had the highest wage bill that season and finished 1st, therefore they 'achieved' par.

I understand that lingering sentiment but we are not going to employ a manager on the basis of having a good crack at a competition we might reasonably expect not to be in on a regular basis and have no desire of competing in.

I dont think Mourinhos CL record is particularly impressive since Inter. Great domestic cup record though - I’ll give him that.

Laughably low standards as to why we should keep Poch; we drawn loads we should’ve won, ‘narrowly defeated’ is still a defeat. But hey we beat Red Star right lads?

The guy is just trying to be positive instead of making himself look like he lives on planet ****.

And this kind of stuff is why this (and the other) thread is fast becoming an echo chamber. We see the same tired stuff trotted out almost daily, really, I still don't get why people are still bothering, there's absolutely nothing new any more it's like the magic roundabout on crack.

This is why I want to keep Poch

You what? that's fucking ridiculous, doh, you deluded flange biscuit

You either go with the masses or just don't bother posting because you'll just get ridiculed :D

I reckon we would do better if people followed my brand new magic formula

Poster A: I want Pochettino to stay

Poster B: I say, that's a marvellous point of view and certainly something that should be considered.

Poster C: Pochettino should be sacked, we lost a few games

Poster D: I completely understand why you would want such a thing to happen even though I'd prefer it if he stayed

All four posters: Shall we retire to the drawing room for cucumber sandwiches and tea?

See? See how much nicer SC would be?

so it sounds as if we agree after all. Turnover is not the right measure, happy to accept wage bill as the yardstick. ?

Has there actually been any ITK on what the fuck has happened this year with team morale? Like this must be far easier knowledge to come by than the insides of transfer dealings.

... you explained yourself why that won’t be the case. Because this is how it’s always been on SC, at all times. Lord knows I’ve stated my fair share of views against the masses and I’ve received my fair share of ratings and ridicule. Most views of which in turn have been proven infact quite spot on. I still remember the first time I said that Townsend was a one trick pony. Point being, counter the SC consensus and you are asking for it, that’s just how it is. Why it has become a problem now is somewhat unclear to me though I’d love to hear your thoughts on why it’s this topic that it matters for.
Now, can I offer you some tea? I’ve got a lovely Darjeeling...
