Think our problems can be solved in the next two windows with relative ease. Just up to Levy (and Poch) to agree on targets and make it happen. It’s not an impossible task.

Rabiot is some weird combination of Eriksen and Rose at their worst. Poor tackling and crazy passes

PS Juve is sooo far away from establishing a proper sarry-ball

A few people mentioning Soumaré for DM. There is far from universal acclaim for him here in France. He wasn’t a regular starter until this season really. PSG didn’t fight that hard to keep him and there are many pundits who say he has a long way to go. He’s not a prodigy - put it that way.

He is seen as someone who can make it to the top but France produces à lot of great young players who are hyped abroad and some become excellent (like Ndombele will do) and some become good (like Kondogbia or Rabiot probably ).

Jury out on Soumaré for now.

Were there ever any names mentioned that accompanied the ITK about buying young defenders in Jan? Seems weird that it said we were buying 2 defenders between the age of 19-23 or something, but to have no players identified

no names, knowing us they’ll be promising kids from league 1 or 2 lol and not exciting kids whom are already playing at the top level.

Like dybala and fernandes. Both better than zyiech although zyiech is certainly a decent player. Van De beek looks class too but not sure we need him really.

think we need:
DM/destroyer
RB
LB if sess isn’t one
AM to replace erisken
Possibly a young back up big ST option like we had with llorente if we need it.

I'd add a CB to this list if/when Jan and Toby go.

Replacing Eriksen may not be as big a priority as some of the more defensive buys we need to make but for me, it's vital we do so. One of our bigger issues during Eriksen's time with us is not having a plan B for him - so if he blows hot/cold, gets injured etc. we've really missed his ability over the past couple of years.

GLC seems to be a great creative option now but i think it's important we don't do the same with him. We need to keep creative players fresh/hungry/competitive and sharing that attacking/goalscoring burden with the likes of Kane, Son and Alli.

Just to chime on the Ziyech posts - for the buyout he's available at, i'd still be very interested. I know he's 26 and has only played in Holland but he makes things happen and works agressively out of possession. I think he'd be a decent buy for anyone as an attacking option based on his form in the last 18months or so.

From what I saw of Berge, the game largely passed him by quite easily. I don’t know if he got better 2nd half, but he just seemed to stroll about playing an easy pass, and rarely getting a foot in, bit disappointed really.
Sounds like Eriksen!

Don't think there's a buyout option on Ziyech any more. Could be wrong.

Especially one young defender targeted from PL. eyes on two.
Have to imagine that it's Nathan Ake.

I remember us being linked with Söyüncü back when he was at Freiberg but given he's now a starter and Leicester's form I can't see him leaving.

A more left field shout for prem CB's could be Adam Webster from Brighton, I can't remember if we were linked with him before or whether it was someone else.

Personally though i'd rather look outside of the prem for a new CB. Konate from RB Leipzig would be my first choice, but any of their young CB's are exciting. Gabriel from Lille is exciting too, and getting CL experience this year

You're probably right - i don't tend to keep tabs on these things. Was it 25m (GBP/EUR?) in the summer? Seemed like a good buy after seeing him in the CL. But if it's no longer in play then i get there's better options out there.

Think it was 23m or something like that. I'm not sure on these buyout options. Seems to me that they come into force when contracts are running down and players now know that they hold the power in those situations. I can imagine Ziyech turning down terms offered in order to run his contract out. Wouldn't be surprised if that's what Toby did in the Summer. I assume any interested parties would discuss with the players agent to find out what wages they were after before triggering any release clauses. If the wages are daft they walk away.

If I understand how our recruitment process works, I’ll assume we’re putting all our eggs in the Joe Gomez basket, even though there is zero chance LFC would ever sell him to us.
