I really dislike that our players don't go out on loan as often under Poch. He could have some work playing elsewhere

No issue with KWP, think he has the makings of the kind of player that is the nuts and bolts of a team/squad, saying that, this squad is missing its genuine first on the team sheet right back.

He is crap, just like Aurier. In fact I'd add Rose (was decent but finished now) and Davies to the list as well. Those 4 are just average to poor fullbacks and no way good enough for a top 6 team. Happily get shot of all 4 and start afresh.

Seems to have been completely ostracised from the squad. Not travelled for the game tonight. I know he struggled for form on his return from injury but odd he has been completely cut out when so many others are struggling too?

KWP has wasted three years with us, and it may well have cost him a decent career. This tactic of not loaning players or letting them play U23 games as soon as they're viewed as good enough to be arond the first team is strange, and I'd love to hear some of the reasoning behind it.

We are on the best way to do the same with Skipp.
KWP could have three solid years in the championship by now and we would have an idea how far he could make it with us and how he deals with professional physical football with some pressure.
Instead we have made a mascot out of him. Well done Poch.

You seem to be saying the using our world class facilities and training with one of the best squads in the league has ruined him? You also seem to be saying that just playing competitive football would have developed him more, surely you can't think that? The fact is in order to get a long, hopefully great career, he has been kept at the club and monitored all of the time. He may not make it, and yes he may have played 100 times for Luton town by now, but we are aiming to get the best out of our youth system. Well done Poch.

I am convinced that regular competitive football helps you more to develop than just training and being monitored there. Its like choosing the best university in the world or a regular job. In my opinion you will learn more in the job, not in a theory camp.
We don't know how he would have developped with loan spells but they surely haven't stopped Kane in his development for example. Young guys like Abraham or Mount could build on that too.

Fact is KWP seem to have stalled in his development and is not closer to the first team than he was three years ago. And thats a bit silly. Not saysing he would now be a guartueed starter for us if he would have been on loan, but we would see if he can grow his confidence and learn on the pitch to deal with various opponents.

And tell me, how are we doing with getting the best out of our youth system? Some good prospects gone for various reasons (Edwards, Griffiths), some get a look in in pre season and then disappear. Last guy we could integrate was Winks. Thats some time ago.

I don't disagree with the premise, but let's not pretend that these guys would be starting for Chelsea had they not received the transfer ban.

The better point to be made with Mount, Abraham, etc. is that young players need to be given the chance, and won't let you down. There are plenty of very good young players who, if trusted with minutes, would perform and would develop into much better players.

What works for some may not work for others. Winks is the latest to have made the grade from the academy, but already from his first cameos, he seemed to belong at Spurs level and didn't have that familiar look of a youth player playing a grown mans game.

KWP still plays like a youth player. He'll show that he's got talent, but the game will often pass him by and it looks like he's unsure of whether he belongs at this level.

I obviously don't know these kids and KWP may never have made it, McDermott and the likes have probably forgotten more about football than I'll ever know, but it still seems strange to have our best youngsters not playing football matches at any level, and just hope for the odd early cup appearance.

True. I mean we have given us self a transfer ban last year. Hasn't helped to put anyone in either, while all the players Onomah or KWP played U21 footy with are now big part of pro football. It is frustrating. And even more so when the so called establish pros are not reliable either.

The most ridiculous thing about KWP situation was he was elevated to senior squad when we had the 2 England full backs. We then sold one and bought another for £25m. He wasn’t even the obvious understudy till this season. Has it really taken Pochettino 3 years of working with a player every day to realise he isn’t good enough ?

Hard to answer really. Need to know what the best looks like in order to measure against it.

Poch has really messed up with KWP development, terrible handling of the player.

Shame as I’d really have liked to see him play but think Foyth deserves a run now to see what he’s got.

Anyone who has played knows that match time is endlessly more demanding and valuable than training, no matter how good the facilities. You can train as much as you like but, particularly in England, only matches can prepare you. of course competitive football would have developed him infinitely more than training, as has been the case for pretty much every top footballer

I have my doubts about KWP, but in his first two PL starts against Toon and Leicester he was man of the match in the first and got two or three assists in the second. After both he had to wait ages for another chance.

It was pretty poor management. Who knows what he could have done if he was allowed to build on those confidence boosts. Instead we persisted with a woefully out of form Trippier and the walking disaster that is Aurier.

Totally agree. A player that broke in raw and played well then sidelined for players not delivering. Poch needs to back to you earn your place in the team, your price tag or name doesn't guarantee you a starting place approach
