Didn’t Jose finish above Klopp, in second place, whilst he was at United? He also won more trophies there too before he left.

Pep at City is different of course. Nothing Klopp has done in his career can match Jose’s achievements as a manager. Not even comparable as it stands.

Which kind of supports the point I was trying to make. Given a choice of Klopp or Mourinho I would go for Klopp every single time despite the difference in records. It’s the football I would love to see spurs play week In week out and why Liverpool and their fans stuck with him despite failing to win trophies in his first few seasons.

Mourinho was unable to challenge City for the title with the biggest transfer budget and wage bill in the league. During his time at Utd both Pep and Klopp have shown themselves to be superior managers IMO so whilst those two are still managing here I don't see how Mourinho gets us a PL title with our inferior resources.

So that leaves the cups. Now I know I will get loads of disagrees on this bit I’m not really overly fussed about the FA and league cups. I understand why players and managers care about trophies, it’s their career and they want to look back at things they won etc but as a fan they aren’t the be all and end all for me.

I personally place far more importance on the quality of the football I go to watch week in week out over winning a cup. If you gave me the choice of reliving a spurs season from the last 15 years there would be a few I would pick ahead of the 2007/08 season.

I know I’m very much alone in this kind of thinking and I don’t expect other fans to agree but it’s how I view supporting spurs and why I’m not fully aboard the Mourinho train. There’s a trade off with him and I’m not sure it’s a price I would pay for a cup or two.

Saying that, if Klopp and Pep were to pack up and leave tomorrow and the league became a possibility I would be looking to board that train ASAP...
Pep and Klopp have both had everything carved out for them though, especially Pep.

He has his mates above him who get him what he needs.
The structure and model within the club is similar to what he had at Barca.
He was basically given free reign and hasn't had to deal with being told he can't sign players.
He struggled with his defence and was then allowed to spend an obscene amount of money on Walker, Laporte, Stones, Ederson, Mendy and Danilo. Basically an entire new defence.

I agree Pep is a better coach in a lot of respects and I'd prefer to play for him but Mourinho is tactically up there with the very very best and he's a winner through and through. I think both Pep and Klopp would have struggled at United and I believe they both turned the United job down due to not wanting to follow Fergie and seeing the mess.

The squad that Fergie left was abysmal. Rooney was a complete shadow, Van Persie was on his last legs, Smalling and Jones were the defensive partnership as Vidic and Ferdinand both left. Moyes could do nothing with it, Van Gaal bloated it even more, so Mourinho had a mountain of problems to contend with. He made mistakes but I think if he had the support like Klopp and Pep had he'd have won a title.

It's not just about money either, he wasn't backed on decisions which undermined his position. He could see Martial was disruptive so tried to ship him out but Woodward blocked it. He could see Pogba's ego was bigger than the club but again, not allowed to sell. Both Pep and Klopp were backed with these big decisions (Toure, Sakho).

If you value a player who disrupts the harmony if the team over the manager you will always run into problems.

Another example - at Chelsea Mourinho had massive issues with Hazard and Costa. Conte comes in and everything is fine and dandy again. A year later and Hazard and Costa are causing problems again.

If you hire a coach to win then you have to support him to the fullest. I don't think Mourinho got that at United.

Pep is more like the fire, whereas Mourinho is more like the firefighter.

A carabao cup win would do me. We aren't challenging for the title anytime soon.
On hindsight, Poch really should have left before the season starts after the CL final. Maybe we would have gotten Mourinho and challenging the title now. We do have the squad this season. But instead we are fucked now.

If only.. Maybe..

I do agree about the quality of football though @skiba

Problem is, we’re awful to watch and have been for a while under Poch. Harry produced far more entertaining football and the most entertaining football I’ve seen at Tottenham for a season or two.

So right now, if it’s a toss up between the dire stuff we watch under Poch and crap results or dire stuff under Jose but with great results, I’d take the second one I think!

Last season at the Lane was easily the best football I’ve seen at spurs and trumps Redknapp IMO but I agree with you on the rest.

So why would it be different here? Poch has struggled to shift the players he doesn’t want as well. Jose was given way more money then he will ever get at Spurs and still couldn’t get near Pep.

I have to agree. The energy and the feeling of invincibility at home was something I've never experienced.

The football was really entertaining with Redknapp and when we were on a roll we well and truly were. But we'd still lose 1-0 to Wigan and other crap teams

I don't think we have issues with egotistical players, our issue is players who Poch can no longer get a tune out of because the message is old and they probably realise the opportunity to win something has gone. They've lost that drive.

With Mourinho they may get that drive back and there would be a new message to hear "To win". No projects, no rebuilds, no contradictions, no same training methods. Just go out to win.

Interestingly, I heard Mourinho never does the same training session twice.

Oh we were far more consistent, but when Harry’s lot were on fire, we were scintillating. The Liverpool game stands out during his reign, we only won 4-0 but it should, not could, it should have been double figures. Proper swashbuckling Tottenham.

It probably sounds daft but it wouldn't surprise me if reps from either us or arsenal would have made discreet enquiries to Jose.

Why would he randomly come out with saying he wants a job in England if the opportunity wasnt potentially there in the near future?

He's not going to City, Chelsea, Liverpool any time soon. He wouldn't go back to United which leaves only ourselves and arsenal as potential candidates.

I think the redknapp team with Lennon bale Madrid and van der Vaart player the best football I’ve seen to be honest. They pace and movement was incredible and all of those players in their peak bar mabye Lennon would get in our team now.

I think you're spot on and that you hit the nail as we say in norwegian (or does that expression work in english too?). Pochettino has probably done all he can now. When there are no more ideas and spirit it's time for a change. It does not mean that Poch is less good. He's been great, but the time has come for a good change.

Gallardo from river plate would be my choice, took a river plate side that hadn't won anything for years and made them a dominant force in Argentina constantly winning trophies, playing good football despite losing players to Europe, bring him to Tottenham if pochettino was to go

I'd like Brendan Rogers (true or false) but no chance of that.
Its an interesting question due to our regular CL finishes, the CL final, the stadium but then theres our transfer spend which is imo going to put a lot of the big names off because it would mean they actually have to coach players rather than just go buy another one lol.
Rafa. Yeah I'd take him on board definitely.
Rafa for me please.
He went to newcastle so can work on a budget and is a proven winner. FACT lol.

We say 'hit the nail on the head' and thanks!

Unless we reach disaster levels I don't see him being fired if I'm honest.

There's no media furore which usually starts a few weeks before.

Poch seems calm and doesn't seem like someone who has been given an ultimatum.

He's spoken about January and we've had JJ and other ITK talk about January and that it is 'going to be fun'.

I think we'll just coast along until January as the club, Levy and Poch wait until they are able to start this rebuild. Picking up a few wins but losing plenty too but the trigger won't be pulled.

All I'll say is if the club are going to support him then I expect lots of money to be spent and spent on young players who are huge prospects.
