White supremacist jailed for more than 18 years for racially motivated stabbing. No surprise that he must be a Chelsea fan as he attacked his victim with a Chelsea branded baseball bat.

Because of the lack of punishment for City, Chelsea are now expecting to be able to buy players in January. We'll see that pans out.

I've just been reading about the penalty incident in the game last night. How are teams still getting these situations where players are arguing on the pitch about who will take a penalty? With all the planning and preparation that goes into each match how can such an important decision be left up to the whim of the players? It looks so amateurish and more often than not results in the penalty being missed.

Some players are selfish cads who don't follow the brief. Lampard said that Barkley was designated taker if he was on the pitch. Why Barkley and not Jorginho is anybody's guess, but that's the way it is.

Given the way Luiz was unceremoniously ejected I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens to Willian after this.

It sounds like it might have been real confusion among the players over who should take it. Willian and jorginho were the designated penalty takers at the start of the match, but Barkley is the teams set penalty taker when he's on the field. Maybe the other two weren't aware what would happen if he came on. Either way it makes everyone look stupid when they miss the penalty.

I saw it and it wasn’t Barkley’s fault. He wanted to take it. You could see Willian ask 3/4 times to take it and Barkley was saying no it’s me to take it.

Now if that’s not undermining a team mate then I don’t know what is. I suspect he’d of scored if he hadn’t of had that distraction.

Glad he missed though obviously. Amusing.

Yeah it's fucking pathetic when that happens. There's enough pressure on the taker as it is without adding to it by squabbling with him beforehand.

Have to admit, I didn't expect Lampard to get a tune out of them so quickly, especially after the United and Leicester games early doors.

If they can keep it up and remain relatively solid as they have been the last couple of games, they'll have no problems finishing 3rd.

Oh to have a team of exciting youngsters again.

You may be right, but I think that'll have as much to do with how much of a shambles we are than because of any great tactical masterclass by Lampard. If we were playing even remotely close to our proper level we'd easily finish 3rd IMO

Agree. Leicester’s team does too. Its youthful has no fear and full of energy. I genuinely don’t know how we get that back.
We need to allow those who want out to go, and not be afraid to take a chance on young talent from the academy and up-and-coming prospects from other clubs.

I still harbour hope that this season is a little like Poch's first, and if we let most/all the 30+ lads plus Eriksen leave in the summer we can rebuild with fresh blood and be a force again next season. But that relies on Levy, Poch (or a new manager) and the recruiters/scouts doing everything right both in January and the summer, which right now is very hard to see happening.

Chelsea look good but lets not forget, the tougher games they have played this season they have dropped points, United, Liverpool, Leicester. They also lost to Valencia in the CL at home.

I'm not convinced by them just yet but at the moment you would put them down for a top 4 finish. I do like the youngsters they are bringing through though, refreshing to see and I actually like Lampard. You just know next season they will go and splash £300m next summer though.

The first paragraph is undoubtedly true, but if they keep up the flat-track bullying that alone will almost certainly see them top four the this season is going.

As for splasing £300m, I'm not convinced that means the academy grads will be relegated to the bench. Of course it all depends on how this season goes but can they realistically get much better players than Mount, CHO, RLC and Abraham in the market right now? They need more depth going forward as Willian and Pedro don't have long left, a new LB and probably a CB too but I think we might see Tomori and the four above play regularly no matter who they bring in next summer.

Well I think they will still want to bring in a top quality striker and shift Giroud and Batshuayi, leaving Abraham and 1 new striker but they will know they need to bring in quality. Can they find the balance between quality and rotation? Not many teams can nowadays.

I would imagine they will be looking for some new fullbacks too, Azpilicueta isn't what he used to be. I think if Lampard gets them top 4 this season, they will have no problem backing him in the market.

Surprised Pulisic hasn't had more game time ahead of Pedro and Willian but guess he isn't showing them much in training.
