His dribbling in tight situations is not as secure as Dembele’s was. He’s getting robbed of the ball in some dangerous places, ones that he probably got away with in France. Also still not totally up to speed defensively, but that will come when he’s feeling fitter and knows the team more.

He’s already shown that he’s a much more creative player than Dembele, though. He sees pictures much earlier and has the ability to to play ball forward. I’m hoping once he is right at it he can sharpen up the dribbling 5 or 10% and he’ll be a real weapon.

Kante, Diego Costa, Ibrahimovic, Bernado Silva and Aubameyang didn't do too badly during their first season..
He has 2 goals so far this season thats double what Sissoko has in his whole time with us and equals Harry Winks tally, he scored on his home debut, scored yesterday, has one assist to his name missed 2 games through injury and still isnt match fit, if this isnt hitting the ground running then he must be jogging at least.

He showed yesterday in patches his dribbling, he was getting creased whenever he took the ball further into opposition half, he will be a beast for us when fully up to speed

Who’d of thought it, spend big money on a player and he’s fucking good. There’s a lesson there
I mean, there’s more than enough examples of expensive flops and cheap successes, no? Surely it’s more about identifying the right player and paying what’s needed if we’re able to, which we’ve done here with Ndombele but also did with Dele, Lennon, Dawson, Keane, Defoe, Ekotto, Carrick, Robinson, Walker, Bale at the cheaper end, also Modric, Berbatov, Dembele, Son and Alderweireld at the most (comparatively) expensive end...

It's also double what he has scored in his entire professional career to date himself.

Yes but he goes forward and passes forward and actually shoots and scores. Dembele just meandered around midfield usually passing the ball out wide. Ndombele is in a different class.

Dembele was a one off though. No exaggeration, but I don’t think I’ve seen many players in world football who possessed the combination of strength and dribbling in order to retain possession the way he did.

Obviously he had shortcomings in the rest of his game, otherwise he would have most probably have been playing for Madrid long before his fitness truly caught up with him.

As you say, Ndomele has things in his armoury that Dembele did not.

Like a lot of players from other leagues you can tell that he’s already been given a bit of a rude awakening about the physical demands of the PL.

He certainly has the skills, and once he gets his fitness and mind up to speed that you can’t take as many liberties in the PL than you can do in France he will be a real asset.

Dembele's job wasn't really to score, though. He was a holding midfielder who gave us such control of midfield for a couple of years. Shielding the back four, taking the ball in tight situations and easing pressure, and winning physical battles in there. It's no co-incidence that our ability to control football matches has completely vanished since last January.

Dembele was an absolutely unique player. A freak of nature

Tanguy is going to be a world beater. Belting finish, and he's getting to grips with the league's pace and physicality. I really think he'll thrive here.

He’s already shown me we won’t miss eriksen, with GLC hopefully and NDombele we are well covered in the creativity stakes. His passing forward is better or at least as good as Eriksens. That ball forward he did to Kane or Son in the first half, was stunning.

I wouldn't take it that far. There is a lot of promise in his play, but he struggles to really get a foothold in the game. I'm sure this will improve, but he has still a lot to prove.

Early days yet but I reckon he and Lo Celso will be a proper handful for most teams if they hit it off.
