We desperately need a player like Fabinho or Fernandinho who shield the back line and keep play ticking over. Winks is great at the latter but provides none of the former whatsoever.

I like Berge but I worry that he's such a massive unit he'd "do a Dier" and lose a yard or two of pace as he ages into his mid-twenties, rendering him incapable of keeping up with the pace of play. Diawara seems to have stagnated a little and is unlikely to be on the market having just signed for Roma anyway. Sangare is definitely an intriguing option. Same with Camavinga but we need a player who can step into the first XI now, not one who might go on to be world class in five years.

Anyone aware of any other young No. 6 types who are physically imposing and can also play a bit?

Ndidi is the only one I can think of....actually William Carvalho? But I doubt we would deal with Betis again

Atal needs to be the priority signing. Any RB who actually wants to get forward and we can alternate with Aurier. KWP is not going to contribute enough.

Would also like to see Roca herebut doubt that's going to happen if Bayern also want him

If you want another Wanyama, slower than a snail you might want Carvalho.

I have no idea why we didn't go for Phillip Billing. £15m for a very capable squad player, who could do a great job as a DM, and sell Wanyama for 5 to 10m looks like the most obvious trade you could have done.

I think after Saturday (when you could say he was culpable for both goals) barring a major medical miracle Wanyama is finished with us. Shame, as pre injuries he was awesome.
We need (1) a new centre half to cover for TA/JV, (2)a new defensive midfielder - Skipp might be able to step up maybe, and possibly a new young right back.
We look flaky at the back these days which used to be our strength, and I think a lot of the problem is the protection of the back 4 after Dembele left and Dier/Wanyama had their injuries.

There was a story that we tried to offload Wanyama and agreed £9m but he refused the move.

Football fans need to stop thinking selling players is the easiest thing in the world. Wanyama is on a decent wage and the quality of sides that are likely to be interested in him won't pay the sort of wage he is on now.

Homegrown too. He’s had a good start at Bournemouth.

Meeh he's imo not what we need right now.

He might come good though.
I'd say a big, physical player to sit in front of the back four, who doesn't look like he's running in treacle (Dier, Wanyama) is exactly what we need right now. Whether he has the ability to step up a level is questionable, but he may well have been worth a punt, given that his HG status would have made him easier to sell on had he not made it.

Ibrahim Sangare, 21 year old DM from Toulouse

We need a ball winning DM who’s also good with the ball and he’s the perfect choice imo. He’s tall, wins the ball a lot, breaks the lines with his passing, likes to attempt crossballs, ok dribbler

These are his stats from last season per game:
3.6 tackles
1 interception
1.7 clearances
1.1 passes blocked
0.7 shots blocked
1.8 successful dribbles
54.1 passes per game
3.9 accurate longballs
0.7 key passes

Anyone seen anything of Riccardo sottil from Fiorentina? We’ve been linked with him a bit recently, apparently sent scouts on Sunday but he didn’t play

Not sure about that. Huddersfield fans were happy to get rid.

So I make it that we need another attacker, DM, RB and a CB.

Who do you all think are realistic options? Ive got:

Attacker - Dybala
Dm - Ndidi or Berge
RB - Aarons or Atal
CB - ?? No idea

Any thoughts?
