This season is becoming excruciatingly frustrating for we supporters. This season we have a pretty good squad where we can put out a strong side with a half decent bench. Despite this we have managed to throw away 3 games where we we playing well and in front. I have read some posts with very good sensible reasons for the mistakes happening and most putting the blame on Poch, his team choice, his substitutions and when he makes them, how and when he rotates being the 3 main areas being at fault when we lose or draw what should have been winnable games.

This squad, on paper, is far too good to be mid table.. - a top 4 finish should be in their grasp. I am finding it increasingly difficult to not blame the manager. For me it his his job to motivate the players and to get them playing to how he wants. Clearly something is wrong and has to be sorted on the field as the players are the instruments to achieve what is necessary to win. Poch has to sort this and quickly before the team gets too demoralised and lose all that has been achieved over the last 4 seasons.

Leicester look decent, I agree, but a few injuries and they’re struggling. Chelsea and Arsenal have worse squads than ours. Have a bit of faith, it’s not that bad.
I have faith but last year we scraped top 4 by a point, as I said we are four points worse off than the same point as last year. It's going to be very tight.

Yes City are a big reason why the trophies are harder to win. But Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal, United, Liverpool have all won trophies in Poch's era. We've not even won a domestic cup.

Now I don't want to be too harsh as the early days we were over achieving slightly but do we want to be known forever as a club who are 'almosts'? We had good days but ultimately couldn't win stuff.

I am very proud of how far the club has come but should we just be happy with that? Or should we be aspiring to win stuff?

By Poch's own admission, it's now about winning things but the results, form and attitudes look miles off.

And also by Poch's admission, is he the man to do it?

since the Poch era started we have also finished in the top 4 four seasons running. in that time Chelsea missed out twice and helped them win the league due to lack of fixtures, and have had a pretty strong squad due to Ambramovic. they beat us in 2 semi's and 1 Final and have had the backing to compete.

Leicester won the league at a time when they only had EPL fixtures, went out of both domestic cups at the 1st hurdle, and with it being Poch's 2nd season they had the breaks. our slow start that season cost us big time, but at the time no one expected us to be fighting it out with Leicester or if your totally honest you wouldn't have expected us to chase anything other than a domestic cup and hope to get top 4 after Poch 1st season.

Arse won 3 FA Cups, in those 3 years they had 1 toughish final, 1 toughish run, and some luck from an official that got them past Man C in the semi's. you need luck sometimes as well as graft, and when it comes to luck we don't get too many breaks.

United won the League Cup with Moaninho and Europa, Southampton was robbed in the League Cup, United played a strong team to get to the Final of the Europa after failing as miserable as we did in the CL, but after 20years of domination and money have always been backed.

Liverpool won their 1st, by beating us with a lucky penalty after 30 seconds, and hardly anyone played in the WC, got knocked out of both domestic comps 1st round they participated in

we haven't due to that big shiny thing standing in the high road now. we have over the last 4 seasons had a strong 13-14, only Leicester out of all the other teams are below us in the money list, have had money thrown at them, Poch has done it all on a shoestring and another show of bad luck is he had his strongest teams at a time we were building. if that group was just starting this season it be a future to look forward too, and Poch needs another group like that to come through now

Trouble is as much as im all for giving Poch and his team the time they deserve to turn this all around, you just cant stand still in football anymore, especially the Premier League. That is arguably exactly why/where all these problems started. When we stood still and signed nobody for an entire season. That gave teams like Liverpool who we were right up there with the perfect opportunity to pull ahead of us and boy did they. There isnt even as much of a gulf between us and the likes of Leicester anymore, regardless of what some would have you believe. The above isnt solely down to Poch of course but hes culpable.

He certainly has credit in the bank at this point, but make no mistake if this isnt turned around and quick, that credit will be used and gone very, very quickly. The run in the CL last year was excellent, with moments that will live with me forever but aside from that and some fleeting moments elsewhere, the last year has been nothing short of terrible and a great deal of that blame falls at the feet of our manager. I'd love for him to turn it around, i really would, but i cant help but get the feeling hes not as invested as he once was regardless of how much passion and arm waving he does on the touchline mid game. His tactical decisions and player/squad management at times this season has been nothing short of ludicrous along with his attitude/persona to the press. Wanyama yesterday for example, that was absolutely criminal management. He shouldn't play for Spurs ever again (for no fault of his own, injuries have absolutely ruined him), let alone when we're up against a tails up, young, talented Leicester team.

The most worrying aspect atm, is who on earth we would get in to replace him. We've been so wrapped up in this cosy Pochettino bubble with all going well and in the right direction that i have absolutely no idea whos doing well enough out there to be considered. Tuchel would be my No 1 but thats a different debate.

Must must must win our next three, nothing else will do and whatever our injuries, back room issues might be, there is not one player in any of their squads who would get near our best 25.

We do that, it’s 17 from 9 (which would see us back in the top 4 in all probability), and a decent first quarter of the season (as well as, hopefully, a lick of confidence) heading into a very hard game way to Liverpool.

Southampton home, Brighton away, Watford home. 9 points and we’re fine, hitting par pretty much, fewer and we’re struggling. Results business.

Leicester are a good team. It was an even match. Son doesn’t get judged off side and we win the game. Very fine margins. Fans need to separate the performance from the result. Our tempo was good, we fought for every ball and created chances. I would be much more concerned if we lost limply like at home to Geordies.

I guess i’m expecting too much for level headedness from our fan base. Instead everyone would rather buy in to the hysteria with every point dropped. It was the same last season and we still made top 4. Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal have hardly looked like they are going to be consistent enough to put a run together so i’m really not sure where fans think the top 4 threat is coming from.
But we did lose limply to Newcastle AND conspire to throw away another advantage against Leicester - no point looking at ifs, buts and maybes of VAR, that's exactly what transpired!

Again, i'm not seeing from rational posters a "Poch must be sacked" mantra so by denigrating people are are genuinely concerned that Poch might well be unable to revive this squad adequately I think is pretty fucking galling.

Poche said this would be a rebuilding season and it would be painful. I'm willing to see it through. I bet everyone is in love with him again come December.

Think this makes the most sense to me, one game is not enough to shake the rumours or spotlight. Need to put a few results in a row together to get himself some space to breath away from the spotlight.

If he cannot do it I see him leaving Oct/Nov, too much focus on it and Levy will not allow us to enter December with this discontent.

Fingers crossed we get the results needed and Poch gets the boys back on side.

Will it be ok not to have CL football next season?
Will Poch be OK to work pro nono for that season then?

CL is so important for the business side of the club and attracting players I really can't imagine us missing out especially now after a full new season in our shiny stadium.

Talk of not making top4 is a conversation you have when you're 9-12 points off the pace with 18-15 games to go, not 6 games in when 2 of your away games have been against the top6 and one of them vs arguably the 7th best team who had VAR as the 12th man.

The way some of you talk you would think we have played 19 games and are on 20 points like Chelsea during the season they got rid of Jose and not at the very most 3 points off of the top4. Last time I checked we are also still in the driving seat for the champions league knockouts stages and have yet to be enter the domestic cup competitions.

Watching the United game, they're currently losing to West Ham and look far away from the top2. Now a lot of you have suggested that Jose should come in because he knows how to win in the short term. Well he came in and won two trophies for United and look where they are now. Would you all be happy if he came in next season won two similar stature trophies and then in 3 years time we were worse off then than we are now. Because that's what happened to United. Difference between us and them is they have the resources and the history to keep throwing money at the problem and potentially the stature to continue to attract top talent and managers.

Well that is roughly our form going back to last season. The problem is that we've had a summer off and new signings but Mr I'm the coach not the manager has forgotten to actually coach anything into the team to change it

This team is stale. It feels stale. It’s just run its course. Sad to say but it has. That reboot was needed. It was the only way to make up for 18 months with 0 new players to freshen things up. Levy fucked it.

if we are the 3rd best team still, thats because United, Chelsea and Arsenal are still shit.
I think its the system rather than the team. Its a good team,.

We had ITK in the summer about this new formation we'd have. Are we seeing this?

I reckon in the next couple of weeks we will see it change slightly because Dele will be fit. We're missing Lo Celso who I imagine was key to the shift as he has a very unique style but Lamela has done an amicable job in stepping up for him.

I reckon we'll see

Winks Ndombele
Lamela Dele
Kane Son

At least until Lo Celso is fit.

Because also we are Tottenham. Why will we definitely become like them?

If following this route yield us the same future, does that mean keeping Poch for another 3 years will definitely win us the league like SAF did?

I'm always very intrigued we are often compared to other clubs for the negative reasons, but never the positive possibility that may happen. Chelscum won the league twice with Mourinho, was he really that lucky? So why are we not facing up to the prospect of winning the league if we got him?

Not saying there is a very very strong camp here to boot him out at this moment, as most are just saying his time is probably getting more limited with the ongoing performance. But why the future is always bleak when faced with the topic of Poch out? Not facing the possibility of a brighter future after Poch is no much better than those who are deemed shameful for suggesting a new future after Poch IMHO.

6 Serie A titles? Whatever happens, he’ll certainly not be another De Boer. Completely different level

The Italian League is so different though, and when you have the equivalent spending power over every team in your league like City have here, PSG in France it's a lot harder.

Mourinho has had success but struggled once Pep got settled in at City.

we have had a very good starting XI if all fit for the last 4 seasons with Poch, but have always had 1-2 player missing to make it very special. unfortunately last season Poch was being forced to fit squares into round holes. in the 2 years, we chased Leicester and Chelsea, we were missing a better player to cover Dembele when rotated/rested/injured, and love him or not had Lamela been anything like a Salah type player, we wouldn't be having a discussion about not winning a trophy.

This season Ndombele hasn't fully settled, both Sess and LGC are injured, as well as Dier and Alli. Eriksen is all over the place, Jan I don't know how he feels and might be part of the problem. He can play as a DM but doesn't want to, he can play as a LB, but prefers not to. 1 of his best mates moved on last January, another looks definite to be going in the summer.
