It would break my heart to have Mourinho as our manager. I'm just praying we can get players fit and Poch gets given the time to regroup and go again.

Oh definitely. I just think it’s a mistake to judge him on his time at Man U that’s all. It’s a shitshow st that club behind the scenes.

I’m very worried with what I’m seeing on the pitch and from Poch, so, yeah, maybe I am.

we have no fit DM, in fact we haven't had a fit 1 since the start of last season. teams are banking up on us more this last 2 and a bit seasons. we are suffering more injuries this last 2 and a bit seasons. we have struggled to replace the dynamism that Walker and Rose brought to the team. we have gone from 2 seasons of having the youngest starting XI to one of the oldest and having to cover more distance than we did in those 2 great seasons, less rotation due to injuries and importance of CL. when it's an International break Poch gets to work with 3 players because the rest are away.

I would like to think that planning is now taking place on how we are are going to progress for next season. We need replacements, I am not going to be specific, I am sure every one is aware of that need. The sticking point is how much is DL prepared to release. I hope that MP is acutely aware of what the requirement is and can provide a very strong arguement to support that. I think this could be our last chance to secure and hold our position as a top 4 team.

I'm very interested to see what we do in Jan as it will give us an indication of whether we have long/short term planning, we clearly need to get rid of a few as best we can.

I'll say one thing I'm most intrigued by is whether we go back in for Dybala because all reporting indicates that they're still keen to let go and I want to see whether A. We're serious and B. Whether he would only be keen to join because of Poch himself.

What’s your point? These are just excuses. Poch sets the tone at the club and he’s the one who’s put a massive question mark over his future time and again in the last six months. There is still more than enough talent in this squad to be competing better than we are at the moment.

Maybe something will spark us into life in the next few weeks. Sometimes all it takes is one push to set other dominoes into action. I love Poch dearly, both as a coach and as a man, so all of me down to my bones wants to see us turn a corner. I just can’t shake the feeling that something is broken beyond repair between him and the players at the moment.

we haven't played well these last 12 months, but those results still mean nothing now. Just seems to be very few people that understand what helped towards that though. No preseason, No rest for the main bodies of the squad, injuries to all our top players, Son playing in 2 Asia comps, players playing with injuries, no signings, uncertainty with the stadium, and uncertainty with the manager. All FACTS, not excuses.

all the above affected the supporters, so why wouldn't it affect the players especially those that had to play carrying knocks. to add the info that Trix has passed on, the players were physically and mentally shattered, but hardly anyone in this forum thinks of things like that.

I will be totally honest and swear on my family's life, and I had 2 friends call me an unpatriotic bastard for it. I wanted England to fail in the World Cup, I wanted Belgium too, but with them being in the same group with 2 weak teams my hope was 1st KO. that wouldn't have helped as players that went out in the 1st KO round flew to America to play the ICC.
Last year after 6 games we had 12 points, playing similar opposition up to this point. Currently we have 8. With our next run of games I see us getting max 12 out of the 15 the and that is being optimistic. Next 5 games are Southampton Home(W), Brighton Away(W), Watford Home(W), Pool Away(L), Everton Away(W). That would see us with 20 points from 33 that were available compared to last year we had 24 of 33 available.

Bit of a cruel irony is for a couple of years we used to top these "calendar year" tables but never topped the actual table apart at any point.

I know what’s wrong. What’s effecting the manager, the players, the club and more importantly the fans.

It’s getting to a champions league final, knowing we will probably never get to one again, losing how we did with everything surrounding it. That’s what’s wrong with us NOW. Sure there’s been stuff that has been wrong before but what’s wrong NOW, is that game.

I can’t stop thinking about it every time I watch a football match. Especially us and even if I see a Liverpool player kick a ball. Walking out in the new stadium I think about it.

Now imagine how the players feel. Imagine how the manager feels. You can guarantee he still thinks about it daily.

It’s different to Liverpool losing a final and going to win it the next year. They have a history in that competition. We don’t.

It’s going to take a long time to get over it I feel.

Edit: weird to get disagrees for this without explanation. Are people really over losing the final already?

No, it looked like this long before that final.

Yeah, without a shadow of a doubt. o_O

Leicester are a good team. It was an even match. Son doesn’t get judged off side and we win the game. Very fine margins. Fans need to separate the performance from the result. Our tempo was good, we fought for every ball and created chances. I would be much more concerned if we lost limply like at home to Geordies.

I guess i’m expecting too much for level headedness from our fan base. Instead everyone would rather buy in to the hysteria with every point dropped. It was the same last season and we still made top 4. Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal have hardly looked like they are going to be consistent enough to put a run together so i’m really not sure where fans think the top 4 threat is coming from.

The fact we are 4 points less than last year at the same point, Leicester looking like a decent challenger for top 4, Arsenal adding some more players to their team, a young Chelsea side with a lot of fire power and our inability of maintaining a winning position away from home.

well if they want to win trophies in England they will have to wait for a bid from City. out of 6 trophies in the last 2 seasons Pep has won 5 of them. so perhaps we need someone like the Sheik to take us over, break every rule to get past FFP and build a squad of 25 players that when played won't look out of place.
Yes City are a big reason why the trophies are harder to win. But Chelsea, Leicester, Arsenal, United, Liverpool have all won trophies in Poch's era. We've not even won a domestic cup.

Now I don't want to be too harsh as the early days we were over achieving slightly but do we want to be known forever as a club who are 'almosts'? We had good days but ultimately couldn't win stuff.

I am very proud of how far the club has come but should we just be happy with that? Or should we be aspiring to win stuff?

By Poch's own admission, it's now about winning things but the results, form and attitudes look miles off.

And also by Poch's admission, is he the man to do it?

The palace game at the moment looks like a one off. Especially in the context of the last 18 months. A bit like how we dined out on the Everton away game at Xmas for about 6 months afterwards.

Don't take this the wrong way... but have you and Tim Sherwood ever been seen in the same place at the same time? :cautious:

I didn't say we had.

so why keep posting what happened at the backend of last season? especially when there are enough reasons for a team to be struggling. no other team involved in the run-in suffered the injuries we did. Arsenal suffered some in their defence and with their EL commitments missed out on taking advantage of our slump, and they never had hardly anyone play in the WC

Leicester look decent, I agree, but a few injuries and they’re struggling. Chelsea and Arsenal have worse squads than ours. Have a bit of faith, it’s not that bad.

I think that’s what makes it even more galling. I stupidly thought we’d be in with a title challenge this year. Shows how little I knew about what was going on!

Now we will be fighting it out with these terrible teams (including Man U) to avoid the europa league places!
