Sounds odd, but Poch leaving would be like losing a best friend or brother.

I've supported Spurs for over 30 years and I've never felt so invested with the club, ever. And that's because of Poch. 2 title challenges, a CL final, CL qualification 4 times on the bounce? I didn't see that coming when he was appointed.

I really, really hope he clears his head and turns things around. I know that no one person is bigger than the club, but it would feel that a small part of my love for the club would die if he went.

I agree. Fergie always kept the same core.
For us that's Kane, Jan, Toby, Rose, Lloris, Alli, Eriksen, Son and Winks. The rest are either new or not guaranteed starters.

Five of those have contracts running out, have had issues with Poch or want out. Fergie was able to keep his core mostly happy or at least replaced one at a time. We are facing a mass exodus of our core. This could be a disaster.

Now if the players are happy at the club but not with Poch then you'll find an answer on what needs changing.

If they generally just want to leave because they're done with the club you have another answer.

I think I know which one it is.

Not sure I know for sure. I would guess a lot are convinced we won’t be winning things and want to leave. On the other hand we have Vertonghen who clearly wants to stay but is still to extend his contract.

This. FFS this.

It's mental that Klopp plays the same formation, with mostly the same personell each week, and it actually works!

It's almost like they know what to do and have built a great relationship with each other. Who knew?

5 of 6 changes every game, a formation switch every half an hour, horrific subs. Poch needs to stick to the basics.

Didn't Poch create that though?

I can't quite believe this conversation is even being had really. The only EPL manager Poch hasn't outperformed since arriving at Spurs based on relative wage and transfer spend Vs points improvement is Klopp isn't it? I get the desire for shiny trophies is a make/break deal for some supporters but who gives a shit about Mou's United trophies - the club's in the shitter and he couldn't do anything but make it worse. How on earth is he supposed to make it happen at Spurs under Levy?

Maybe I'm wrong.
True, he did.

But my concern with Poch is that he's very good at clearing the decks, getting young players on board and creating new energy. Yet once the squad gets older he can no longer work with that and things become stale due to his inflexibility and principles. Also, can he reenergise and go up a level to win a trophy?

We've made two finals, pushed for two title challenges and lost several semis under him. You can say that without him we wouldn't have made it but you could equally point to coaches like Mourinho who won the CL with Porto as a young coach because he's a winner whereas with Poch you have to question it. I love Poch and think he's been amazing for this club but if we aren't winning trophies players will leave.

Imagine in a year's time, Poch has seen out the season, we've qualified for CL but still no trophies. How long before Kane says "Stuff this, I'm 27 and I've given everything for the club but I want to win something."

Afterall he's seen Walker leave and win, Trippier has a chance to win something this year and Eriksen will be next.

Poch's improvement of the club will only get us so far before it proves non-effective and if we're too late it'll be irreversible in terms of damage.

No CL next season and we'll be staring disaster in the face. All those on short contracts will go and Alli/Kane will start to get itchy feet. Even Son will.

Don't agree with getting rid of Poch as it stands. But that aside; Mourinho! I think careful what you wish for on that. He plays awful dogmatic football, always has. Plus I think he's on a downward spiral, football has moved on and his negative style has been found out.

Who is this down to? If it's Poch who's put the breaks on a new offer then that's pretty sad and Levy must wonder why. If it's Levy and Poch wants him to stay then Levy needs to pull his finger out.

As I’ve said before it’s always difficult to know what goes on behind the scenes at Spurs. In this instance though I find it hard to believe it’s Poch considering he said recently that he thinks Verts could play at a high level into his mid to late thirties.

Then again Poch seems to say a lot of contrary things in the press. He’s up and down like a whores drawers.

It's just sad to see us play nowadays. Despite having a much better squad nowadays, this team looking very much like its from the AVB era.

Perhaps Poch thought that and then started to see aspects that had him concerned and now he thinks the opposite.

Most big clubs would ensure Toby and Jan are the primary pairing until they reach 34 years as CBs tend to be able to keep going longer. Although it's a difficult one as Sanchez and Foyth need game time, however ditching both Toby and Jan would set us back massively as Foyth and Sanchez are still very immature.
